In the meanwhile, time for some lineup work. Since SirD is departing (sounds like he's serious!) we are down to 4 active members. So I'm putting it up for a vote on how we proceed in the coming year.
Option 1, continue with a new mix on a monthly basis. Which will up us from 2 mixes a year to 3.
Option 2, 4 months on, 2 off, 4 on, 2 off
Option 3, 2 months on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off , 2 on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off.

Options 2 & 3 allow for any "guest" mixers who wish to just throw in a mix without the full time commitment to the group. Example, Kurster is putting out a holiday mix for us all this year.

So put in your vote, or like some of the new election voting rank the options 1,2,3 and we can sort it out should there be a tie (or heaven forbid FRAUD!)

I'm comfortable with either 2 or 3.
Or 4... open enrollment. I was persuaded to join by Marty. There has to be others out there wanting to share their drug passion.

i did, a couple of plays and comfortable earworms abound!
about half of these i was familiar with but hadn't listened to in ages
nice to hear them and clearly evoking fond memories (old gf stuff )
of the new to me stuff, greg burns and dawes are my faves - good job
i'm flexible on the rotation
my holiday request? i asked santa to persuade sird to stay
(i've had my lucky socks on for a week and they're starting to communicate)

I've been a naughty mixtaper. I've owed you a review of this for weeks, and by the time I finally overcame the playback hardware issues that kept me from it just about everything that could be said about it has already been said. I don't have much to add to what Kurt and Coldmiser had to say.

Well, maybe a little. I'll be brief.

Cover art: perfect. Nailed it.

A general comment: for me the Beatlness (Beatlity? Beatlitude?) increased dramatically from start to finish. For instance,
  1. Badfinger – I’ll Be The One

I coulda sworn this was XTC. Never noticed a similarity between the two before.

  • Emitt Rhodes – You’re A Very Lovely Woman

  • Who the heck is this? Wow, thanks for the intro! An artist I need to hear more from.

  • EZN – Strength

  • I hear Lucy In the Sky-ish organ and Yer Blues-ish guitar riff. Another new one to me.

  • Flora Cash – You’re Somebody Else

  • Vocals remind me of Maia Sharp, which makes me want to turn it up and go find more of this. It doesn't remind of of any Beatles tune, but I like the heck out of it.

  • The Move – Beautiful Daughter

  • So early John Lennon! Much wow.

  • Utopia – I Just Want To Touch You
  • XTC- Vanishing Girl

  • These last two are Beatlesque to the point of parody!

A very fine mix, and a very clever theme! Gear! Groovy!

Indeed, a profound sad. The sird discs have made me the envy of my music hipster friends, given me hours of entertainment, and made me a better person. They have made numerous dinners, tidied my living room, corrected my spelling, sharpened kitchen knives, and taught me to levitate. I'm up to about 4".

They are proof that music heals, moves mountains, overcomes obstacles, and powers out stains.

    Please reconsider.

"Beatlesque" or "Beatles-esque" describes a musical resemblance to the English rock band the Beatles. The term is loosely defined and has been applied inconsistently to a wide variety of disparate artists.
Jeff, Frank, Sam, Ralph, miamizsun... "Come on man!"

Yes! This was a good thing. Those Beatle guys did quite a bit of influencing through the years.
    Some of my thoughts...
    1. I always liked Badfinger. I have quite a few of their 45's from back in the day when I was collecting 45's. Surprisingly. Good choice. Power Poppy! Of course, which one would someone choose? Nice pick!
    2. Built to Spill. Yes. Beatle influenced! Another nice pick!
    3. David Bowie. Of course! Obvious... now that you brought it up.
    4. Emitt Rhodes. As Mr. Miser stated... Is that you George? Nice again.
    5. EZN. Pretty serious "Beatlesque" stuff here.
    6. Flora Cash. Never heard this one. Must delve a little deeper.
    7. Flying Machine. Yes! Early 70's Pop! Another one from my 45's collection. Nice one there!
    8. Fountains of Wayne. You can't go wrong with these guys. Especially their psych- around- sound sound!
    9. Julian Lennon. Okay. This is cheating.

    10. Kurt Vile. I've always liked Kurt. Wait? What?
    11. Mekong Glitter. Another one I've never heard before. Almost kinda reminded me of Morphine... the band. I like Morphine... the band.     This, I don't know...
    12. Noel Gallagher. Yeah. The Beatles. I mean Oasis. An easy choice. But I've never heard this one before.
    13. Stone Temple Pilots. A deeper cut. With lyrics that sound really familiar. And the tune. REM? Stones? The Beatles? Oh wait.
    14. Sweet Kev and the Divinistry. Did they sing "And the Beatles talk to me?" Well they might as well have. Hey! A pretty recent release.
    15. The Easybeats. No argument here.
    16. The Move. Jeff Lynne has spent his entire life trying to be a Beatle. I see nothing wrong with that. An admirable goal.
    17. The Oliva Tremor Control. I've always loved this quirky band. Nice choice pick.
    18. The Velvet Underground. I thought these guys were the influencer's. Taught me a lesson.
    19. Utopia. Good ol' Todd. Beatlesque indeed!
    20. XTC. Mistake! Mistake! Sorta. From Dukes of the Stratosphere outstanding LP "Chips From The Chocolate Fireball". Love these  XTC guys!

    Good job!
    I enjoyed the entire disc!
Thanks for your work on this!

My highlights (and there are more than the low bar of 4!)

I'll Be the One - Has George written all over it. Was he the producer on the tune? I see it was on the Re-issue of Straight Up
Is that Ringo on the drums on the Bowie track? David has the Lennon influence going strong.
Emitt Rhodes sounded so much like George I kept waiting on the Sitar to appear
Flying Machine - Who are these guys? Certainly a strong Paul influence. Song could have been a lost Rubber Soul track
I'm pretty sure I'm the only member of the group to have purchased lawn furniture at Fountains of Wayne. Though it's possible Russ (RMGMan) may have shopped there, not too far from his old place of lodging when he was with us.
John certainly had an influence on I Don't Wanna Know, hmmm wonder why? BTW what ever happened to Julian?
Setting Sun would be perfectly at home on the White Album
Sweet Kev and the Divinistry were obviously influenced by George
I can hear Friday on My Mind on Magical Mystery Tour
    And Beautiful Daughter on Revolver
Was that Ringo again with the Oliva Tremor Control?
Deface the Music was such an odd project for Todd, not sure what he was trying to accomplish.
I would love to hear what George Martin could do with Vanishing Girl.

Safe to assume you copped the cover art from MAD, Genius! My girlfriend even commented on how awesome it was.
Love how you took this theme and expanded it to all levels of Beatledom. No other band has ever had such an influence on music, nor ever will again, than the Fab Four!
