i enjoy a challenge and being in the mcc has inspired me to listen to a lot of different music
deciding what i think the group will find interesting is always fun
especially when i'm sending a selection out to individuals with at least fifty years of listening experience
this go round i did learn a couple of important things about my software
next effort should be a bit more polished sound wise
Overall I'm always amazed that our members consistently come up with artist's I've never heard of. Seems like the well is bottomless. This mix certainly is in that category. Like Lazy only 3 of the artists had crossed my path before. When I saw the mix title the first thing to come to mind was Duane Eddy. Thought for sure he would have made the cut. But what I got instead was a mix that really satisfied and had me toe tapping (at red lights anyway). Hot damn was this a good one. Highlights....
Mack West's I'm Gone just jumped right in and kept rolling along. Pulled me right in, co-favorite on the disc
Maneater was one hell of a story. The moral? Don't F**k around on your girl, you might end up in the freezer.
I've perused the Name my Band thread and am hard pressed to find Lullaby for the Working Class
Sea of Tears was pretty much the tried and true song recipe you've heard a million times, but Eilen Jewell still smoked it
Knew the Laura Marling track, hadn't heard it in sometime so it was fresh and still lovely.
Disappear on Down the Line sounds like it stepped out of the Crazy Heart soundtrack
So I know Calexico and I enjoy everything I hear from them so why don't I have any of their stuff in my collection...hmmm
The Leavening was quite theatrical, could have been a Broadway hit if Broadway did Twang
Psycho Mutants tied for favorite. Love the mix of genres and just a fun ass tune

Welcome Aboard! If you feel up to it and want to dive right in we have an open slot for June. Although I am seriously lagging behind schedule on my May issue due to my regularly on going tech challenged issues. But a long weekend is ahead and I'm planning on getting something done for you guys.

My current printer doesn't do CDs like the previous one did, but I won't let that stop me. Where's the mailing list and queue of who's doing what when?

Boy howdy did this work for me! Wish Sirdroseph was still on the distro, think this would have spoken to him too. Very much attuned to the Southern Thang.
Loved the theme, lots of new stuff to me, and the artwork was tasteful and fit the theme well. Think this one is gonna get a lot of spins at the ranch.
Only three artists I was familiar with, and only one song. So many strong cuts it's hard to pick favorites, but standouts were Greg Holden (great ballad, feels really relevant), Psycho Mutants (southern ska?), Joshua James, Blue Eyed Blonds, Mieka Pauley, Mojo Monkeys, and Laura Marling (such fine banjo!).
While I have zero complaints about the actual music mechanically the disc was not happy in my player. The center hole was off axis so the disc wobbled badly enough to rub on the interior of the player, and a couple of tracks were impossible to play thru. I'll try it in another when I get a chance.
glad you found a few nuggets and i still send sird my mixes
regarding the disc it sounds like a factory defect (sorry to hear this)
i buy discs in those 100 sleeves and now that you mention it on occasion some make more noise when burning
also i do a quick quality check for each disc (start each song briefly and forward to the next)
