I don't know either, maybe we should ask him again if it's possible now.

I wonder if it is possible now? Checking some of the stream's metadata it seems that they are using Liqudsoap and Icecast which should be able to support Opus, but I don't know the whole picture to say that it will be possible or not.

Yeah, but you know what I mean lol. It's still one of the latest audio formats available and in development. A 128 kbps Opus stream is about the same quality as a Vorbis one at 192 kbps, since it's about 50% more efficient. So, it could save some bandwith while retaining quite a fair quality. To learn more about it, check this link to the developper website: https://www.opus-codec.org/

I do agree with you. It will be a very nice addition since it performs better than Apple's AAC encoder at bitrates >= 64Kbps. Apple's AAC encoder is considered the best AAC encoder out there.

Out of interest sake does anyone know which AAC encoder is used by Radio Paradise? Is it FDK-AAC?
xHE-AAC seems to be the next best thing, but support for the format seems to very sparse at the moment.

The aac streams use  fdkaac

for 128 kbs and higher: mpeg4_aac_lc

for the  24, 32 and 64  kbit streams:   mpeg4_he_aac_v2

Hello, just wanted to ask you if you could possibly add Opus streams to all the mixes. Opus is a rather new codec, but open-source, compatible with most modern devices, players and offering way greater quality than AAC and maybe Ogg at the same bitrate. Thanks.
