He can't rescue you
Can't pull the demons from your head
Can't lull you from your sleepy bed
He can't rescue you

He can't protect you
From the powers that will be
The hours of insanity
He can't protect you

He can't change you
Change the summers of your beauty
The thunderstorms within your purity
He can't change you

He can't carry you
Past the door of every danger
Every foe and every stranger
He can't carry you

He can't save you
From the plain and simple truth
The waning winters of your youth
He can't save you

He can't fix you
Your tears will always leave their mark
From fears that stay inside the dark
He can't fix you

What can he do
But tie some ribbons in your hair
And show you that he'll always care
Thats all he can do

Lala lala...

I love the dreamy, languid, rhythms and moody, melancholy singing style in this, and hearing this amazing song today, I realize why I like the Wye Oak song, "Its Way With Me," from 2021, so much...

Such a beautiful song and amazing voice

Good change of mind, I gave it a 9 right away đŸ˜‰

Wow's right!  I'm going +2 to 8 this early Saturday morning around 2am, whilst listening somewhat loudly with these headphones through a newer dac.

LLRP!!

I've had exactly the opposite reaction.
Just upped this to 9 from 8
I don't understand people who don't like Lucinda's music.  Of course I don't understand most people anyway.
This is just so damn good.
Love her.
Primo ditty. Trance like.

Don't be so hard on yourself.
The vocal track on this recording is so raw and beautifully live off the floor sounding.  Her voice and the various instruments float around and play with each other like kites on breezy spring day.  Exquisite.
This song - just raw beauty.
Lucinda - my heart… love her voice
My 17 year old son added this to his Spotify favorites and I hear it coming from his room once in a while.
I must've done something right.
What a segue from Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" to Lucinda's "Rescue".  Brought tears to my eyes - beautiful.

I know.  Downloaded on my 1st listen.  Beautiful.

Always haunting, always true. This woman is just plain fabulous. Listening to her brings me to some of the deeper parts of myself. My former husband introduced me to her and adored her as much as I do, which makes it that much harder to listen to but also makes it that much more powerful. Always real.
Thanks for playing her as often as you do ...
Her singing here just creeps over the line of sounding either like she really couldn't be bothered, or, trying too much for an effect that doesn't really come off. Otherwise a nice enough song.
Truley a heart wrenching song..

Sweet
Chills...hauntingly beautiful
Simply sublime . What a beautiful track.
Excellent song. Had to pause player after it ended - some things should never end - to keep the feeling a little longer.
Get to see Lucinda again in a few weeks!  One of my faves live and I hear she's back on her "A" game!  She's incredible
Excellent album.
Say her a couple weeks ago in Toronto, third time, this time she played Car Wheels on a Gravel Road in its entirety for the 20th anniversary of its release, complete with stories. Buick 6 opened; great band.

Much love in the room. SO much respect for this artist. Phenomenal show.

I adore this woman and her voice.
I have often criticized the RP Playlist, because of too much sad and melancholic songs.
Todays playlist is just great! Thank you!! {#Bananajam}

Still absolutely love this song...

Lucinda sold out last night and tonight for her Ann Arbor shows
didn't know until a week or two ago that she was in the area
first 3rd of the seats in the house went for $100.00 per

simply chilling!
Very cool. Classic Lucinda moodiness.
Nice! Never heard this one till now.
She's in town here in February at the Vogue Theater and I'll be there in row 10 sippin' a cool one....I can't wait.

Lucinda Williams: One of the greatest female singer/songwriters of our time! That's my humble opinion.

Love this , she is terrific. We are seeing her in November.
Very nice.  I like Lucinda when she's sober.
You keep playing songs that I own, but have forgotten about. And in the context of your playlist, I'm thinking, "Why haven't I been playing this!"

Well, I dunno...there can be a lot of passion found in tenderness.

Cool strings! Lucinda? Rises above, as usual.

The real life stories behind the songs make this one of the most heartbreaking albums I've ever heard.  She's so good.
