Think I'll walk out in the rain
Called you time and time again
I've got no reply, you've gone
Reached the point of no return
The more I see the more I stand alone
I see the end of the line
Were you ever lonely?
Mystified and blue?
Realizing only your number's up
You're through
Done my share of winning
Now's my turn to lose
After a fair beginning
The game's up I'm through
Think I'll walk out in the storm
There's no love to keep me warm inside
And hope it's fine at the end of the line
Now is the time to take a dive
Try a magic carpet ride
Everything is wrong
You've gone
If you ever miss me
If I should cross your mind
You know where to find me
I'll be waiting at the end of the line

I can't hear Roxy Music without instantly thinking of the Big Train rendition of Virginia Plain. I wish it were on RP
But until Bill grants my wish, you can check it out here.

How about "nearly 50?"
A good song for New Year's Eve. Or any time. Happy New Year, all!
The only thing worse than more Bryan Ferry is less Bryan Ferry.
wow! i don't remember hearing this one before. thanks RP!!

How about nearly 50?!?!?
GREAT TUNE!!  Thanx RP!
Thanks to RP this branded itself on me while embarking on a long distance relationship. Great music that fits like a glove.

googling that now!
why not put the album cover in the rotating image carousel?

Alot of  these album covers are works of art!

The vindaloo song.

In June 2011, Ferry was made a
CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours for his contribution to the British music industry, and in 2012 he was awarded the French national honour of Officier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres.[37] In 2014, Ferry was made an honorary Doctor of Music by Newcastle University.[38]

A long time ago, I read this about being a songwriter and musician-- "You have your entire life to write your first album, you have one year to write your second."

That second album is where a lot seem to run out of material, isn't it?

Kinda gives you a different perspective on artists such as The Rolling Stones, Carlos Santana, Bruce Springsteen, etc. Still rockin' after all these years.

Except that a songwriter/musician will likely have quite a number of songs in their catalogue, not just a first album's worth.  They might put their "strongest" songs in the first album, though "strongest" is a pretty subjective measure.

I never understood why this band was so popular but after hearing this brilliant song I get it.  I though the song and album Avalon was kind of numbing to be honest. Like most bands I guess you have to go back to the earliest stuff to really appreciate them.  Having worked in a record store I made the observation that most bands have one or two great albums in them and start to sound uninspired after that.   Not all but most. Thanks RP for opening up my musical  tastes!

It's "Both Ends Burning" from this album, for me, every time...
Man, haven't heard this in ages. Still sounds so good!
Bryan Ferry has one of the most memorable voices in music. Instantly recognizable.
Just gotta say  - Thanks! for mixingRoxy Music from time to time.

Johnette has said she's a huge Brian Ferry/Roxy Music fan. CB even did a song called "Roxy" about them.

This effort and Country Life are faves for me.
Only rating 7 to me

I agree Jerry took Ferry's edge, but the direction he then pursued led to Avalon — one of my desert island selections.  That made it all worthwhile.
Love. {#Music} Concrete Blonde does an excellent cover of this one.
Surprised that the average on this song is as low as it is...... This is the song I think of when I think of Siren. Ethereal, I think.

Jerry Hall, who took Roxy Music's edge with her when she left Ferry for Jagger, is the siren on the cover.

Cool tune.  I prefer this era of Roxy Music to the comparatively "easy-listening" stuff they put out in the 1980s.

I couldn't agree more if I tried. That being said...the "easy listening" phase is still better than most of today.

Eric relates a funny story about those three in Clapton.
There are few things in this world as beautiful as BF's voice, and it's displayed here in all its glory.
Mick Jagger's ex Jerry Hall playing the Siren on the album cover...while she was Bryan Ferry's girl.
Wow! I had no idea this was Roxy Music from the other room during the folksy breakdown at the bridge...holy crap!

Love it.

Check out the complete Roxy Music studio recordings collection available on amazon. I picked it up as a Christmas present and am pretty pleased with it thus far.  Price is very reasonable but there are no liner notes...read the reviews before purchase...
