March, march to my own drum
March, march to my own drum
Hey, hey, I'm an army of one
Oh, I'm an army of one
March, march to my own drum
March, march to my own drum
Hey, hey, I'm an army of one
Oh, I'm an army of one

Brenda's packing heat 'cause she don't like Mondays
Underpaid teacher policing the hallways
Print yourself a weapon and take it to the gun range
(Ah, cut the shit)
(You ain't goin' to the gun range)

Standing with Emma and our sons and daughters
Watchin' our youth have to solve our problems
I'll follow them so who's comin' with me
(Half of you love me)
(Half already hate me)

March, march to my own drum
March, march to my own drum
Hey, hey, I'm an army of one
Oh, I'm an army of one
March, march to my own drum
March, march to my own drum
Hey, hey, I'm an army of one
Oh, I'm an army of one

Tell the ol' boys in the white bread lobby
What they can and can't do with their bodies
Temperatures are rising, cities are sinkin'
(Ah, cut the shit)
(You know your city is sinkin')
Lies are truth and truth is fiction
Everybody's talkin'
Who's gonna listen?
What the hell happened in Helsinki?

March, march to my own drum
March, march to my own drum
Hey, hey, I'm an army of one
Oh, I'm an army of one
March, march to my own drum
March, march to my own drum
Hey, hey, I'm an army of one
Oh, I'm an army of one

That’s what the man wants us to think.
Great lyrics! Starting with an 8! The Chicks are playing the pyramid stage on Glastonbury Festival on 25th of June this year. They play at noon between Sophie Ellis -Bextor and Yusuf/aka Cat Stevens! I´m going to catch a bbc iplayer stream that weekend!

As a  long-time Georgia voter, let me say THAT WOMAN does not represent 85% of our state.  John Lewis was MY Congressman.

I'll listen to Dixie Chicks any day of the week and twice on Sunday.  Love them all!
Interesting

I imagine this is not being played on Froggy<insert your frequency here>, and not for the style.

If that ain't treason I don't know what it. And I don't use the word "treason" lightly or regularly.

How's the new guy doing with his handling of Russia?
can't say they've ever done much for me musically. Fine with the politics. but this one gets better as the song goes on.
they asked permission from the Donaldson twins here in NZ to use the name as the Donaldson girls had the chicks name in the 1960s.  Some useless information for ya
so good!
Very nice.
This made me stop and listen.  Thumbs up.
back off boogaloo...c'mon      Ringo
None American here. This is a great song, an excellent melding of styles with a very relevant poke at thems as need a good poking.
Trying to be  pop-relevant = garbage.

So, haters...  Do you really think this song is that bad or do you just hate The (Dixie) Chicks for their politics?

I find the song tedious & pompous in & of itself.

I don't much care for their politics but I likely disagree in whole or part with the politics of any number of artists.  I do find their manners lacking & their lack of backbone, evidenced by dropping 'Dixie' from the name, regrettable but that, fundamentally, is their problem.
Good set today on the day after one of the saddest days in American history. Bill, thank you for providing the soundtrack to our lives. It's consoling.

I like The Chicks for their Music. I also get a kick out of how they have their own opinions and a willingness to share them.

Music and musicians have frequently been the voice of opposition to conformity and control. Yay music and musicians!

YAY indeed ...Muzos speak for ALL of us ....like it or not ...music speaks....people listen

Mummy!  Mummy!  Lady sang 'shit'.
It's just a collection of letters.  Don't get your knickers in a knot.

Because it's . . . good? Yes, that's the reason. Because it's good.

Their assessment of the Iraq "war" was correct.  200,000 civilians dead by the end.  Love the Chicks:  great song!

Yes, the Iraq war was a disaster and a poorly prosecuted one at that.  A complex web of lies told at the highest levels of American government (although, admittedly for lying they have nothing on the current administration).  It hampered our ability to finish in Afghanistan where our true enemy was located AND is still there (as are we 17 years later).  It gave rise to ISIS so now we have the Taliban, Al Queda, AND Isis to contend with.  It lead to a spread of violence to the Kurdish regions and Syria (where the Drumpfster more recently abandoned our allies).  It cost TRILLIONS of dollars that we will never get back. It's lingering consequences will affect America for generations.

YES... The Chicks were right (or should I say correct ;-) For that, their hoople-headed fan base turned on them.  With friends like that, though, who needs enemies?
I like the Bjork Army of One WAY better

You emote, and tempers fly with business people running around acting like their hair is on fire because you're impacting their bottom line...and not in a good way?  So you're pushed out.  "We don't want it."  So they say.

And now.....This.....this is what comes from wandering around in their own private desert?

Me thinks we could use more of it.

The album has a lot of challenging material. The title track is especially caustic. Different for The Chicks (Dixie* or otherwise). I kinda dig it.

If anything Political correctness would be badgering, threatening, and screaming at folks for kneeling during the National Anthem to protest injustice.  Or demanding that non native speakers speak English all the time.

But, actually PC is not even a thing.  It's just a boogey man for small minds and Republicans (redundant?).

Saw them perform this song on Steven Colbert a couple weeks ago. Liked it right away. Much different than I expected from them.Rated seven maybe more later. Thanks B and R.

Sounds like a challenge of sorts, to say the least.  OK, I'll play.  I like a lot of their music, but I don't like this song.  And I don't agree with their politics. By your definition does that make me a hater?
Politics should always remain within politics and never outside.

I agree. Political correctness is generally a phrase used to defend oneself against the politeness, respect, openness and kindness of others (or to resist change). I think some people find it hard to believe that people would say "politically correct" things from a place of genuineness.

So.... Nobody has anything to say about the album cover? LOL!!!

P.S. Diggin the tune!!
Not a huge Chicks fan, but this is one of the best protest songs I've heard in a while.  I dig their politics and courage.

Amazing to hear such a new release here on RP.
Like this, I do.
I really like the Dixie Chicks... not sure about going to the Chicks... I understand their reason though.  Watched them play at a small venue in College Station, TX once... Fantastic show

Love them for their politics, hate them for their music.  I do appreciate them singing this message in a format that some country fans might listen to though.

I mean it's OK, but seven plays in the last 30 days?

That works out to roughly once every four days - hardly seems bothersome, especially since RP runs 24/7 and the chance of hearing it every time it's played is remote.
I'm digging this song and The Chicks. ¡Bravas! Good to hear it here on RP. :)

Presumably PC means Protesting  Corruption in this case. That ain't BS.
Gets my heart pounding!
My how far they've come in the thirty years since being a quartet of 50's era glittery cowgirl attired young women busking on the street corners of Deep Ellum in Dallas. They sounded good then but not my cup of tea and Deep Ellum was the wrong environs for their schtick. Natalie Maines dad, Lloyd Maines was a major producer and raised their profile in the music world and the rest is history.

I'm so glad to hear it beaming on this amazing radio.
I'd heard the title cut, but nice to hear Bill delving into it. This song is intense.

So I have  ignored this band all along, because their name made them sound like another stupid country act.  But over the last 10 years, I heard little bits of their music that made me think maybe they are not a dumb country pop act after all.

And as for this song, it is very good.  I like it, who knew?

And people will hate on this strictly based on politics.
Finally, a new offering from the Dixie Chicks, new the Chicks.  Actually they need to come up with a wholly new name.  I rather like this song

Thank you for a great set today (11.35am New Zealand time). Some interesting new stuff!
Trying to stay relevant.  This song doesn't help.

Oh, now I get it.  A new album!  LOL
