what I like about this kind of country music
is that it doesn't sound like the other kind of country music—too commercial and gimmicky

This song reminds me of when my mother in law was dying from cancer. Yes, was a very sad and difficult time. We drove 3 hours one way to see her, once and sometimes twice a week, for months. We were very aware of the little time we had left. My husband, who was actually not yet my husband at that time, played this song very loud. A lot.

An Alt-Country classic though more.....Ryan Adams' best effort IMO.  Was fortunate to catch them at Tractor Tavern in Seattle right after Strangers Almanac release....perhaps one of the best shows I've seen in a small venue, a 3 1/2 hour marathon.  They opened with this song and continued to tear through a list that culminated from requests from the audience.  As the crowd thinned out on a week night, perhaps with no more than 50 people in the audience and the lead guitarist asking if someone had any weed he could savor, they were out of their own material - it ended with a Fleetwood Mac medley and beers at the bar afterwards!  What a memory.

Cool. A 9. Add this one to the list of many songs and artists and albums played by RP that I must go out and buy. 'Course, will do so through the RP links so Bill gets the credit.
