Good news is that there was a local blood drive.  Bad news is they wouldn't let me donate because I carry someone else's parts.

I worked for years getting people signed up to give blood for my company's blood drives...I saw a lot of folks change their minds when it came the day to give...I'm sure you are correct as to why they have to double-book. You did good my friend.{#Good-vibes}

I went to the give platelets yesterday, but the small community blood center had double-booked, and as they only have one machine for that procedure, and because it takes a while, and because it was Sunday with short hours, I could not give platelets. Good news is that I gave whole blood instead, and I can go back in two weeks to try to give the platelets again.
(I wonder if they commonly double-book on account of people not showing up. That would be a shame.)
