Yeah, they look like pint bottles; I can't figure out the brand* but they're smoking Pall Malls.  They have some fancy drinking glasses too and someone on the front of the table had a martini.  Larger picture here.

I should backscroll. And yes, these are 12 oz but I see they were also offered in "half-quart" bottles.

That was  great era for drinkware. I've had several really cool sets. I usually cycle through them - you can find bargains on them now and then and there is enough demand that you can always offload them later. Oddly everyone seems to think they are super collectable/valuable, but only a few sets really are.

Yeah, P and I are all about cruising second-hand shops/antique stores and picking up vintage glasses and crockery. She's into having miss-matched everything. We're at the point now where I won't let her buy anymore unless we give up an equal number; we got no more room.

Lily casually flicked her candy cigarette while flirting with the stranger at the party, unaware that the 'F' stood for father - the new head of the seminary.  The scandal would soon engulf the whole town.

We got a set of random scotches from the duty free store at Gatwick. After a while we admitted we weren't fans of scotch.

Everclear only just recently became available in Virginia, but I prefer the 100 proof vodka. Everclear is too strong, too alcoholy for my taste.

I used to have a double Wild Turkey 101 with a Guiness chaser. Well, not singular... plural. I'd have about 3 or 4 rounds after work. And bring a six pack home with me. That was weekday drinking. You don't want to know the weekend consumption... Somehow I survived long enough to quit altogether. Still scares me to think about it.

Good on ya for doing what is best. I have a drinking problem - when I'm stressed, the last thing I want is a drink. I've actually started having a cocktail in the evening now and then so things must be going ok. But if they don't lay me off at work, I'll probably have to stop drinking again.

IT'S AVAILABLE IN AMERICA NOT CALIFORNIA

/redneck

I made some with 95% ethanol from Poland. It was vile even after diluting it down. Not sure what I did wrong. It's funny that we can get it here with some effort, because they won't even sell 100 proof vodka.

I may need to make another batch of nocello one of these years, but it's hard to get the green walnuts.

If it's not made for consumption, quality control might be suspect?

What's that nut green booze all about?

The ethanol is for consumption (although it was unavailable for a while because of quality control problems). I can still see, so mine was ok.

Excuse me, nocino. Nocello is made from ripe walnuts. I always get them mixed up.

So you know how walnut husks exude black tar when you take the husk off to get to the nuts inside? Well, you take walnuts before the shell forms in that husk, cut them in quarters, and put in high-test alcohol. You end up with sort of a boozy version of that tar. Then add sugar and dilute to make a liqueur. More than you want to know about making nocino.

Another fun one to make is Pimento Dram, aka allspice dram. Useful for Tiki drinks. I just pulled some out from the back of the cabinet and added a couple of bar-spoons worth to a martini (3 parts gin to 1 part dry vermouth). That was nice enough to post to the Kindred Cocktails site.
