Is there a gap between the boards there? It looks like his back third is cut off...  btw. you gots big snikes there.

Saw this lovely one on the Virginia Creeper Trail last Monday. He/She had some kind of injury,... you can see the scuff mark pretty well. Probably got hit by a bike. I don't think he/she was poisonous... had circular pupils instead of slits. Thought it was a copperhead first, but after looking at the eyes, I don't think so. I guess it's some kind of water snake. These guys are regulars on the bridges of the Creeper Trail, especially when the sun is shining.
I'm not smart enough to figure out how to change the background color... red was fine with me
