Took the words right out of my mouth...Remarkable how the whale went to each of the rescuers as if to thank them individually.

Daring rescue of whale off Farallones / Humpback nuzzled
her saviors in thanks after they untangled her from crab lines, diver says

One of the divers on the rescue team works on the crab pot lines that held
the female humpback whale near the Farallon Islands. The weight of the
crab pots was pulling the animal down. Marine Mammal Center photo via

Arnica is good for swelling... In this case, bee venom is heat labile, so I'm soaking in super hot water. Hopefully this will help.

I've used very hot compresses for bee stings and other insect bites.  I was told that the heat kills the proteins which trigger the reaction and/or swelling.

Beautiful swarm shot; did you capture the swarm?  I love the interplay of the light on the leaves and the underside of the cluster.

Ironic this should be here tonight.  I took a sting from one of the Buckfast hives tonight; Daisy and I were playing soccer and there must have been a dying bee in the grass.  She caught me right in the ankle joint.  Man; I've taken a couple of stings from the Carniolians this year and it hasn't been a big deal; this Buckfast sting has the ankle, knee and hip joints swollen tonight.  *ouch*

Thanks all.
It's a bit out of focus, they were frantic.
It was pretty cool to watch the swarm as they gathered.. They moved on before sunset.
I hope they find a home.
