Ok - we COULD technically throw Dixie Dregs in there if we had to, but I think that's another forum! I'll be checking some of those cats out though, thanks (anything you can recommend, PM me pls - ears are hungry, need new tunes)! (I thought we were the only ones that did Yes & Rush (a whole LOT of Rush) meets Cohen meets Concrete Blonde! Granted this was quite a few years ago. Now I feel old...)
well for dark folk (Cohen style) meets alt or even prog, and a whole lotta art, Current 93 is by far one of my favorite bands in the world. Also check out Nurse with Wound. Google David (Late) Tibet and you'll see a whole bunch of stuff. Welcome to my (dark) little world....

OmegaConcern wrote:"What kind of music does your band play?"
"Well, it's kind of a mix of things. It's really original..."
I always hate that, mainly b/c it's rarely true. Most of these asshats sound like a mix of stuff you grew up on mixed with stuff that's new which is based on stuff you grew up on which means...right...
This is my other favourite, usually found in bios:
"Unsatisfied with the current trend in music I/we/they decided to take matters into their own hands and create and unleash their own brand of suck..." The arrogance of this statement astounds me.
MY bands on the other hand, are ALWAYS original and don't sound like anything you've ever heard before ;)
(I will say this, though - I was in the first and only Alt-Folk-Prog band!)
I doubt it. Current 93? Hell, anything David Tibet has done? And further back, Steele Eye Span?

"Helloooo TAMPA!!!" - Sebastian Bach, opening for Poison...in Palm Beach, 7/23/08. I hate to diss him for it, b/c he was actually pretty good. I almost bought his new album.
