It doesn't seem as if this was a particularly exciting game, then again, it was based on The Waltons.

Sorry is a great game for adults, especially if there are only three. Trash-talking while taking frustrations out on a fake fourth player can be a lot of fun.

Was this the game y'all tried to teach me my first full night there? When I was ... ehm ... jet lagged?

Mr. Potato Head was the fourth, if I remember correctly (unlikely).

A few years ago I bought "Sorry" thinking it would be good fun. What a shitty game. I know why my parents hated to play it back when I was a kid. I guess if everyone is mature enough to get the humor in the name, it could be fun. But when your only play is to destroy your 6-year-old's self-esteem... So I taught her blackjack. We'll go to Vegas next week and see what she learned.

I remember "Sorry" - yes it was pretty crappy. (You can say "shitty" here? lol)

"Sorry" is a simplified parcheesi, which is a modified backgammon. the nice thing about backgammon is that games go very quickly. If youre getting clobbered the punishment is over quickly and youre on to the next match.

My parents taught me contract bridge (another merciful game). I have a hard time finding anyone who still plays it. Other than online I mean.

+1 on BJ. Easy game for kids to comprehend (and yet another merciful game).

I think it was the same as Candyland. Just a random race around the board. I had to stack the deck in Candyland to make sure I didn't win.

My parents played gambling type games with us.  We used Swedish 1 öre coins, worth about 1/5 of a cent as counters. I learned that it was just as much fun to play for ephemeral winnings as for keeps - and more fun when you lose, that your long-term chance of winning against the house was low, that your probability of winning against your brother at blackjack was considerably less than chance, that it was all about getting together with the family to do something, no matter how boring the game.
