Here's a link to the Wikipedia page on cribbage. It's a great game for honing your math skills.

I was born in the US, but I only have a vague idea of what cribbage is. :shrug: I know my uncle likes to play it. I've never learned to play.

But I like Rummikub!

And I love Trivial Pursuit, and Scrabble, and my new favorite game (which doesn't involve a board) is Apples to Apples.

I used to love playing Rummikub!!!  I forgot all about it. I used to play it with my Mom and family a lot in my early teens. We had a lot of fun nights playing it for hours. Those were some great times {#Angel}

I wonder if kids still are into these games as much these days with all the cool intense graphics video games? I think some of these games still have staying power....
Thanks for reminding me of Rummikub.  What is Cribbage?

I started playing Rummikub about 7 years ago. That's fun as well.

I played dominoes for the first time when I visited BlueHeronDruid in October. Fun game as well.

Now that I think about it though, I don't think any of these games are board games, per se.

I searched around a bit and didn't really see a category to put this topic into. Entertainment made sense but that was only broken down into books, movies, and music.
Thought it would be fun for people to recommend their favorite board games they still play. I REALLY like the game Taboo. For a few years we used to play it at my Sister's New Year's Eve party. It's a lot of fun when you can get a big group of friends together. In case anyone has never played it, I've cut and pasted Wikipedia's definition of the game:

"Taboo is a word guessing party game commercially available from Hasbro. The object of the game is for a player to have their partner(s) guess the word on their card without using the word itself or five additional words listed on the card."

Rules:

"An even number of players from four to ten sit alternating around in a circle. Players take turns as the "giver," who attempts to prompt his or her teammates to guess as many keywords as possible in the allotted time. However, each card also has "taboo" (forbidden) words listed which may not be spoken. Should the giver say one, a "censor" on the opposing team hits the buzzer and the giver must move on to the next word. For example, the giver might have to get his or her team to say "baseball" without saying "sport," "game," "pastime," "hitter," "pitcher," nor "baseball." The giver may NOT say a part of a "taboo" word;<2> for example, using "base" in "baseball" is taboo. The giver may only use speech to prompt his or her teammates; gestures, sounds (e.g. barking), or drawings are not allowed (though modifications may be made for deaf or mute players). However, singing is permitted, provided the singer is singing in lyrics, and not humming or whistling the tune. The giver's hints may not rhyme with a taboo word, or be an abbreviation of a taboo word.

While the giver is prompting the teammates (without hand motions), they may yell out as many guesses as possible, rational or not, with no penalties. Once the team correctly guesses the word, the giver moves on to the next word, trying to get as many words as possible in the allotted time. When time runs out, play turns over to the next adjacent player of the other team. The playing team receives one point for correct guesses, one penalty point if "taboo" words are spoken, and the opposing team receives one point each time the giver passes."
