For those who still have a landline and still use answering machines ...

If you can set it to answer after more than 4 rings, you will get fewer annoying robo calls.  Most stop if there is no answer after 4 rings.  They assume that there is no answering machine and will not leave a message.

Say very little and do as much as you can, and receive all with a cheerful face.

That is really good stuff, during a rough period in my life I ripped out a piece of notebook paper quite unevenly and wrote in crayon "Be thank for what you do have" and in my crude style drew some white fluffy clouds, a sun and a blue backdrop. Taped it to my lamp on my nightstand by the alarm clock and it was the first thing I saw in the morning and last before slumber. This is as good as gets for good advice to be sure. Thank you, I steal now.

To be completely honest, there's no glee used in the parables... I took editorial liberties. :)

That's a worthy mantra for sure. I was curious about the use of the word 'premise' but I see you deleted a couple of posts so it's all good. I think I understand your point.

So are you saying that I used a pun in an affront to biblical idioms?

I get all my weather predictions from the Farmer's Almanac.

I had an ex-coworker who was a big believer in the Farmer's Almanac's weather prediction. Lately (at the time) we had been getting days where it would start snowing and then change to rain in the afternoon and he was bragging to someone at work that the FA had predicted that. Well, it was March and I hated to break it to him but I just had to tell him, "That's what usually happens in the spring". Should have seen the dirty look he gave me.
