Yeah...well...no amount of wishing is going to get a dead horse to pull a cart. You can try hitching the dead horse to different carts, but you'll find that the result is the same. My suggestion is to replace the dead horse.

That's news to me. I don't see any mention of it on the official KMPlayer website, or in the release notes. It's been quite a few years since there's been any excuse for not using KDE or any KDE apps because the original Trolltech Qt library wasn't open source software. Qt is completely OSS now. And even Linus Torvalds endorses KDE.

I agree. In fact I have lots of problems with lots of software with Vista. I have become so frustrated I am setting up my imac i got for free from a friend. It may be older but i'm sure it wil be a lot more reliable. Vista has caused me no end of problems.

Other than that I go with Jetaudio usually(it's also an awesome video player)
I love open source apps but I have yet to come across one that fills the shoes of Winamp. I've been using winamp since way before it sold out to AOL, but even so, I love it because: - skins (OK, so that's vain, but I like eye candy)
- excellent built-in ripping engine (I rip to FLAC with the plugin)
- built-in milkdrop (again, it's great for parties or just when you want to listen to music without staring at your desktop)
- great media library. I love sorting by artist, album, etc.

I have two, each for specific environments:
At home on my personal machine, I like Winamp because it pops up with track information at song change and it comes with Milkdrop 2 for awesome visualizations, great for parties.
On the go I like VLC portable because I can run it straight from my flash drive, and I also keep a .m3u for RP on it so I can listen to RP from any computer with a broadband connection, without changing the host computer.
So what about you all?
