That's my cue to go do something else.

No matter what your political leanings, no matter who you love and who you hate and who you are indifferent to, no matter if you're Horde or Alliance, I bid everyone a fine Saturday!

I guess I'm not willing to go quite that far. While I do feel somewhat unwelcome (and I often feel it's because I don't choose to stand idly by and be abused simply for being a liberal and a democrat), I don't agree that what those who would love to see me blown into a black hole are seeking is just an ego stroke. I believe they are sincere in their opinions.

I have railed against the bigotry here, the support of mass murder for oil, the support of sacred political and religious cows, the degrading things said against desperate human beings trying to survive by entering this country illegally, and the silence of people here who allow manipulative trolls to abuse and threaten others openly - and, I'm ostracized by those who are too spineless to stand up for what they call their community.  The trolls are ego-stroked "I Loves My Beaker", for example, and I end up being ostracized.

I don't know why I keep coming back - maybe for the same reason I keep smoking...

You are right, let's not hate the haters...

As my zen teacher says, "We must always allow everyone the freedom of their opinions, it is the only thing they truly own."

Thank you for being you, Zipper.

Once a group of his disciples came to Khrisnamurti and asked him why he allowed his angry and vindictive uncle to live in the ashram with the others who were seriously attempting to become more spiritually evolved.  He replied, "He thickens the plot."

I'm trying to learn to speak my mind without hurting people.  Sometimes I'm more successful than others.

I've been trying to grow up, myself, and avoid getting my panties in a wad over what I consider to be more hate rhetoric I'm still seeing in the halls of the neo-cons. After all, everyone has the right to an opinion and tolerance is not about supporting the right to share ideas we agree with- it's about supporting the right to share even the ideas we abhor. I need to work on myself in that arena, in trying to recognize that the freedom of speech applies to everyone, everywhere, and not get caught up in slinging hate for hate equally when I get frustrated by obvious attempts to make otherwise reasonable people turn to rage. It's a hard road; I have my strong opinions and even my own hatreds, and while I'd like to believe that I'm righteous even when I'm fussing and carrying on at those whose ideals I feel are seriously out of whack, that's only MY perception and might not be as close to the truth as I'd like to be.

And yes, I'm aware of ironies, but I reserve my own right to not only be human and highly falliable but also to speak my mind if so moved.

I agree with Stu - I am intolerant of intolerance - there's plenty of evidence that he has issues against anyone who doesn't think as he does (backscroll - you won't need to go far), that he is reactionary and has no real proactive expression (again, backscroll - see how many pages you have to go before you see a non-reactionary post), and generally, ONLY comes to RP to sew malicious discord amongst whomever happens to be around.

I get sucked intothis stupid shi every time - usually with Beaker (or sometroll like him), and end up taking cheap shots that I pay for for a long time.  I get so pissed off at his bigotry and general menace - it's like I suck up his poison and start propogating it - ak - Don Ruiz is right!

*sigh*

I keep thinking that I've learned better, and then I find out I need to learn more better.
