When we have earthquakes here, not much happens.

Funny how the three biggest quakes I've experienced were right here in Dayton, Ohio!

thank you for all this information. My first quake was the first year I was in Santa Barbara.  I know very little about the faults or rocks in general. Good reference material.

For those of you who are interested in the science behind earthquakes I thought I'd repost geoff morphini's great link to focal mechanisms.
