EXACTLY!!!  So I thought I was safe and spent hours burning the rest.  Not to mention the hours put into building the mix.  And now I have to pick just 14 songs?  How am I going to do that?  Tempted to use another program to rerip the songs and make the copies but that would mean they would be copies of copies and at some point I think you'd be able to hear that.

So I was listening in the truck without the track list to help me so it's going to be interesting to go back and go Ah! that's who that is. I could only sing along and I use the term sing very loosely I could only sing along with 6 out of 20 and didn't want to skip any so I think that's what makes a really great disc.

6/20?? that's impressive

There is a balance between both time (80 minutes) and size (700MB, I think).  You could have plenty of "time space" and if the files are very high quality, you could have run out of "size space", or vice versa.

Bytes is bytes, shouldn't matter the file size as long as you can keep the total under 675 MB total, that should give 25 MB for the necessary disc leader, text and what not and that is plenty more than needed.  Perhaps the problem is due to a bad batch of blank disks.  Had that problem before with a batch of Maxell's.(4 or 5 years ago, so who knows)  Whole spool, would only start to burn in one particular burner and then they still came out full of errors.  Beeg pile of coasters.  Still have a few, anyone need some for target practice ?

Also burn at the slowest speed possible and burn one at a time.  Don't do a batch setting for 4 at once, funny things can happen after the second burn.  Turn of all other programs and reboot if necessary before burning.  It might be overkill, but it sure beats burnin' coasters.

Hope this is helpful.

edit: okay that is not all. Welly's CD was thoughtfully prepared to accompany a lovely evening of cooking and dining so I thought I'd save it for that but swear to god since her disc came in it's been nothing but hot dogs and rice. I guess I'll just put it on. But not now because I haven't heard Bela Lugosi's Dead yet.

Did you notice you got Soddy Daisy on your map?

{#Lol}  No. It started off with 18 songs which I thought was pushing it but the CD burned without an error and played back on the computer without any problems so I figured I was golden.  But (after burnig a bazillion copies) when I tried it earlier today in the car I was rudely awakened to the fact that it wouldn't play anything after song 14. (It wouldn't play songs 15, 16, 17, and 18)  I took out a song and still, only the first 14 played.  But I continued to experiment which is when I discovered that if I took away a longer song I could get it to play 15 but not 16-18.  Somewhere in there I decided to see just how many minutes and size - because iTunes does NOT give you the info.  And even when I got the numbers down to what I consider to be ample wiggle room it still didn't work.  I am now moving on.  The Rainy Day Music mix is officially RIP.  Sunshine only from here on out!

Lemme see if I understand....

With 15 tracks, it borked the end of #15.

With 14 tracks, it borked the end of #14.

With 14 tracks, it comes in at 62 minutes, right?

When you went from 15 to 14, did you keep the same track at the end?  Which track was removed?  The last one, or one before it?

strange.  I have worked and worked on mine. I still don't sit right with it, but they all seemed to fit on the disc... I am playing it in my car today to see if i hit the same issue.

One other thing to check... the CD plays in a computer, but not in another CD player.  Do you have yet another player you could try? Seems like the one player is flaking out.

Send it to me and I'll whip it in shape. {#Whipit}
