Does it have anything to do with his race? Not a whit.

Sure, President Obama has kowtowed to Big Business. They're the ones who have all the money, after all. But what on Earth does the color of his skin have to do with anything?

I agree with his critics, he actually sets back the struggle for equality by using the term "black" in his otherwise accurate statement. Why did he do that? Obama's corruption is more inline with just being another puppet of corporate plutocrats, not a "black" one. By making it racial he actually diverts attention away from the actual overall more important message he is trying to convey and defines and labels Obama as a black man first, when he should be viewed as just another President.

The outspoken scholar and Princeton University professor Cornel West has been viciously attacked by many on the political left, especially supporters of President Obama. Why? Because he had the courage to call Obama a “black mascot of Wall Street oligarchs and a black puppet of corporate plutocrats.” For more of West’s views see this article.

Most of the attention has been on the use of the word “black,” as if the black Cornel West had made a racist comment. In fact, West got it right because he and some other true progressives have condemned Obama for not being an authentic progressive. Right again, Obama has never shown himself to be a true leftist progressive, even though many on the conservative right may think he is one. West thinks Obama “has no backbone.”

PROF CORNELL WEST. . . A TRUE PROGRESSIVE AND TRUTH SPEAKER:

"It is not that Obama is not black enough, as some think West was saying. It is about the dishonesty, deceit and corruptness of Obama. What everyone should be praising West for is that he correctly made the point that Wall Street oligarchs and corporate plutocrats have stolen the US government by using vast sums of money to corrupt both Democrat and Republic

Thank You Cornel West by Joel S. Hirschhorn

Yes. Considering the numbing effects of new age political correctness & the pharmaceutical lobotomization of vast segments of the populace, even oversimplification such as this can be a stretch. Just witness the reactions I've had in the past when I've tried to lift the veil on this stuff. Some of those reactions coming from yourself if I remember correctly...? Or maybe not.

The difference is, when the Right is in office, the fringe right think it's gotten permission to be as crazy as they want to be, and the country shifts to the right, especially religiously and with regard to womens rights.

Here is my conspiracy theory:

If McCain had gotten elected, his government very quickly would have been run by the shadow government a la Dick Cheney, eventually SP would have been put into power, and the NeoCons would have had the run of the country.

This would have been a very different scenario from Obama as president.

The NeoCons do have the run of the country.  Obama is doing exactly as they would hope.  Obama has continued Bushs' war policies and his economic policies in giving Wall Street, Big Pharma, the HC Insurance industry and Multi National corps such as General Electric all the deals they asked for.  Obama has strengthened the Federal Reserve by putting Goldman Sachs guy Geithner in the Treasury.

The only difference is Obama's unflagging support of public employees unions and not using domestic fuel resources.
