From one of my dearest friends:

I proposed to Kalia while we were vacationing in the beautiful state of Vermont and she said yes!

I'm so happy for him.

Yeah, stick with that story, Ace.

I just love calling you 'Ace' or 'Sport' or 'Chief' because I know it annoys the living $hit out of you. I'm funny that way. See what happens when you share too much? That oughta teach ya...

Food Network a treasure of quotable inanities, i.e: "I was hoping for more from this jicama." Like it's a test ban treaty.

Not sure it's "epic" but I like his snark.

Nothing kills the romance like a hammock breaking and landing on the ground. I think I laughed for 10 minutes. Thankfully neither of us are hurt. (Jason's famous last words: "I thought that hook might be too small.") I'm still giggling. ;)

A former coworker asked as her status: "Question. Should we take my hubbys Harley to Laughlin next weekend? Its about a 4 hour drive. I am kinda nervous too but....it could be fun."

A friend of hers responded: "Your privates may hurt :(  I went to Payson on one and felt like I had been kicked in the vag."

That is VERY interesting...

I highly recommend The Filter Bubble: What the Internet Is Hiding from You by Eli Pariser...

In the book, Eli writes at length about the troubling combination of Peter Thiel's extreme libertarian views and seat on Facebook's board of directors—

Peter Thiel is entitled to his idiosyncratic views, of course, but they're worth paying attention to because they increasingly shape the world we all live in. There are only four other people on the Facebook board besides Mark Zuckerberg; Thiel is one of them, and Zuckerberg publicly describes him as a mentor. "He helped shape the way I think about the business," Zuckerberg said in a 2006 Bloomberg News interview. As Thiel says, we have some big decisions to make about technology. And as for how those decisions get made? "I have little hope," he writes, "that voting will make things better."

Eli Pariser describes all sorts of hidden filters all over the internet— the big search providers like Google and Yahoo rate you with four primary characteristics by the sites you visit— your age, your gender, your political preferences are three of the four that I remember on the spot— and then they rate you with almost 60 total ratings that they build from the first four... people get offered different links, depending on how the search providers have filtered the people individually...

as Pariser describes it, the person next door to you may live in a different universe online... all of this stuff is hidden...

you can watch a great recent interview with Pariser on Book TV called After Words: Eli Pariser, "The Filter Bubble: What the Internet is Hiding From You" hosted by Clay Shirky... you can watch it online, or it will come on television again on C-SPAN2, on Sunday, July 10th at 12pm (ET)...

Facebook filters everything to make it all bland and homogenized... one of the great things about this Radio Paradise website is that it hosts all disparate walks of life... good food for thought...

Facebook can French kiss my derrière...

I love my friends:

A***:
waiting for Jim. Like Waiting for Godot, but hopefully with more resolution.
    • M***: Can we put on Waiting For Jim With Dinosaurs? I think that solves our copyright issue ^^
      Saturday at 16:29

    • A***: Is Jim the tree?
      Saturday at 18:04

    • M***: I thought we should just do it in blacks so it's minimalist and then leave it for audience interpretaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyytion.
      Saturday at 18:06 ·

    • A*** oh, right, yah, that sounds coollllllllll.
      Saturday at 18:08

    • M*** Yah, yah, I thought you would like it.
      Saturday at 18:10

    • M*** ‎...and if it's in blacks then we could have the actors NOT dress up as dinosaurs and then people would be like "Why are there no dinosaurs in Waiting for Jim With Dinosaurs?" and we can be like "because the dinosaurs are extinct" so the piece kind of has an element of Theatre of Cruelty, showing the fragility of human existence through the absence of dinosaurs...
      Saturday at 18:13

    • A***: matt that's toooottalllly brilliant, i mean i think that like obviously we can use physical theare in that to properly bring out the meaning in the worrkkkk, like maybe we could do dance stuff too to make sure the aesthetics of the piece compliment the overall artistic intentions. also maybe multimediaaaaa??
      Saturday at 18:15

    • M*** :
Well I was thinking more down the autobiographical route but we could have physical stuff in there in the sense of psychophysical scores because we could have a score which expresses the feelings of what it is like to be a dinosaur that doe...See more
      Saturday at 18:26

    • A*** hang on but if we're doing the dinosaur that doesn't exist could we maybe link it to absence and therefore childhood trauma?? so it IS autobiographical. yah? x
      Saturday at 18:27

    • M*** So the dinosaur that doesn't exist actually represents a child that has been sexually abused? Brilliant! You know I think we're onto something which has NEVER been done before!
      Saturday at 18:29

    • A*** I think that is definately safe to say, yes.
