It's a weird angle and HDR photography. The deck also looks like they finished it in something shiny there. That picture is looking out the first floor door/deck facing you in the first picture.

Couldn't get that link to work - testing this one.

I didn't realize I wanted a houseboat until just now.

There are lots of different dock arrangements. I wouldn't buy one unless I could get some sort of fee simple arrangement. Leasehold is too iffy with so much value being tied to location. There is also very limited supply, and even fewer that I'm interested in, so pricing is out of my league at this time.

Yeah, and what happens if you don't pay the rent on your berth? Does the landlord cut your house loose to drift?

Just curious, does that sort of a craft have some sort of motor and navigation system, or does it need to be tugged by another craft when one wants to move it?

They are all different. Most of them in that area / class are just built on barges with no running gear. But there are some new rules being put in place regarding 'navigable vessels' that will impact a lot of people living on the lake. Also different rules depending on if your moorage is condominium, leasehold and if you have tideland rights. It's a lot more complicated than it needs to be... as ususal.

On a good day you have 25 feet of water in the basement.

One of the houseboats on the lake has a 'basement' that is below the waterline. He has several windows that are underwater too. It's pretty neat.
