The parliament has 650 seats so 325 is a majority and right to govern. In reality it's 320 as Sinn Fein don't take their seats.

Plenty more more to look at if you look at the UK polling report blogs. They did a load of links a couple of days ago. The gist is trying to find enough likeminded "friends" to get over 320 seats and therefore votes. Otherwise a confidence vote will vote you out of power. At the moment labour are more likely to achieve that even though the conservatives might have more seats ( ie there will be more politicians combined on the centre and left than the centre and right).  It really is too close to call though ( not like the Mitt Romney too close to call polls).
