Our sprinkler system pump has been iffy for a while. Appeared/sounded like it had rocks in the impeller and/or bearings seizing up etc. because it was very hard to start and noisy. I put some effort into repairing it but last time I did that, I spent a lot of time and money before throwing in the towel. So anyhoo I went and got a new pump last Saturday and Not One Thing lined up. I had to re-do the wiring, the suction, the connection to the system... even the bolts in the pad it sits on were in a different place so I had to pour new concrete. Oy. 

Got the plumbing connections all mostly hooked up, switched it to 120, got new dog-proof flexible conduit, even the knockouts on the old one were 3/4 but this one's 1/2. Oy. I had taken the wiring off of the old pump but left it connected to the post coming out of the ground because why not. Went to hook up the new and, um, took the cover off the box there and a wire nut fell out. The neutral wires had been just *touching* but not squoze together in any way. Think that might account for the old pump being fussy?

Oy.

Anyway. This one's really quiet so it'll be nice.
