good marketing strategy for Amazon I guess, keep everybody dissatisfied with competing hardware to make us want to buy a real Echo.  The "Alexa Enabled" label is confusing though and making me think that Alexa is broken and not my hardware.

As I replied to another post, Tunein works because it’s a core echo skill, not a third party add on skill. Sonos is only ‘Alexa enabled’ and like similar devices doesn’t support third party audio, plus core echo functions like calling&messaging, echo multi room audio (I.e. you can’t mix Sonos and echo devices in the same multi room audio group) etc. There’s no sign i’ve seen of this changing in the near future

What I've heard is that Sonos's implementation of Alexa is broken. There are lots of skills that don't work properly, including ours.

We have a test unit on its way & we'll see what we can do. I'm sure that Sonos is working on it also. I know that the Amazon reviews the unit has gotten would certainly motivate me!

Bill, Sonos is looking at this. Weirdly, it works great on my Echo. It works on the Sonos One if I say "Alexa, play Radio Paradise on TuneIn"

Anything you could do would be great!

Hi, just wondering if there is any progress towards getting the RP skill to work with Sonos One?   Still working fine listening via TuneIn but that doesn't help when I need Alexa to play something different than Porcupine Tree :)

I take a different view on this  - it isn’t that anything is broken as such, it’s just that Amazon don’t support the same features on ‘Alexa enabled’ devices (including some of their own hardware like fire tv etc) than they do on true blue echo hardware. That's why you don’t have Alexa calling&messaging, echo multi room support etc on Sonos and other third party devices - they’re not echoes. The Radio Paradise skill is not alone on this - even the recently released BBC skill here in the UK suffers the same constraints, and i’d Imagine they have slightly bigger clout, with no disrespect to RP. The ‘problem’ will only go away when Amazon release the necessary APIs to third parties and there’s no sign of that happening anytime soon - for one thing, a fully fledged echo compatible Sonos Play One could potentially have a negative impact on the sale of Amazon’s own hardware.

Haven't heard anything from them, and I haven't had any success at getting the attention of anyone there above minion level.

I do know that our skill is only one of many popular skills that aren't working, so hopefully they're actively working on a fix.

Bugging their tech support & posting in their forum certainly can't hurt.

How are you starting RP?  "Alexa, play Radio Paradise" is the best bet.

Weird behavior on the Echo Show:  I have one at my home, and it refuses to play RP for the past week (Alexa:  "Sorry, I'm having trouble accessing your Radio Paradise skill right now").  A friend has one at her house, and RP plays consistently.  We are logged into her Amazon account on both devices.  Possibility of conflicting usage?  I dunno, but it seems like we've both used it concurrently in the past.

I have the same problem on my Sonos One.  Can someone please buy one for Bill so he can figure it out :)

I have escalated this with Sonos. Let’s see if they can fix. It seems possibly to be because there are several stations called Radio Paradise.

But, if I say Alexa, play Radio Paradise everywhere (so that we have synced play throughout the house) it will utilize the TuneIn app and play everywhere on it. No matter how I say it, "everywhere" will only work using TuneIn. Not a fan of listening to RP on TuneIn because things start to get spotty after a while with a lot of drop out.

Any ideas on how to fix and get the skill to utilize the everywhere feature?
.
.
And a second question - does listening on 4 devices at once count towards the "listeners per hour" meter and cost RP more in fees?

I'm pretty sure the "everywhere" feature only works on certain apps. I'll check with our Alexa developer to see what can be done with that.

If you're using the "everywhere" feature on TuneIn, that'll count as just one listener.  If you're playing RP via our skill on multiple devices it will also only count as one listener if they're all linked to the same RP account.

I'll see what I can find out about RP + Alexa + Sonos.  Unfortunately I don't have any of their nice hardware to test with. Might have to do something about that.
