Strangely, no governments seem to be working out treatment plans for their populations, instead all seem to be going for vaccines which don't seem to promise anything other than big bucks for Big-Pharma. Are the people irrelevant to our leaders?

Developing antibodies in the herd is more valuable than a vaccine, imho.  If something is effectively treatable then we should try and find the way(s) to do it. If nothing else to treat those for whom the vaccine does not work.  Or is not available.

Harvest the anti bodies and distribute them rather than a vaccine.  Hell of a lot safer.

I've just come to learn that the vaccine is not safe for me as I have had a very violent reaction to a flu vaccine several years ago.  The CDC says people like me should not take the vaccine.  Oh well.  Been flying without a net for a very long time anyway.  I will just continue to wash my hands like I always do, continue my C, D and zinc as I have for years and take comfort that my blood type is O, which seems to be the best of all the other types in dealing with CV.

Obla di, Obla da ...

The Coronavirus Is Mutating. What Does That Mean for Us?
Officials in Britain and South Africa claim new variants are more easily transmitted. There’s a lot more to the story, scientists say.

Is what it is.  Doesn't really have any affect on me one way or the other because I basically don't drink and rarely eat in a sit down dining establishment anymore.  Was just pointing out one way the government has absolute control over a sizable portion of the people without any redress. All parties voluntarily entered into this arrangement knowing the power of a liquor license over their livelihood.  No one saw this pandemic and the restrictions it would bring about coming when they opened up these businesses, yet here we are.

These businesses can be shut down purely on the whim of unaccountable bureaucrats now without recourse, no matter how much they comply with restrictions on their businesses which anymore change almost daily.  They are local and unevenly applied.  Due process has gone out the window.  All in the name of public health, justified or justifiable or not.  One can call this legal tyranny, eh ?

Too much power in one place ?  That was the point or question I was going for.  The pandemic has exposed this ability to control people in ways not previously considered in anyone's recent memory.

Evidently totally acceptable to those who have responded so far.

Me neither, but at the same time, the government needs to be providing robust PPP funds so that businesses can close and stay closed until the crisis passes.

In any event, medical care for the SARS CoV-2 patients in hospitals, especially intensive care units, has already improved and will continue to improve driving down mortality rates.

This sounded interesting so I looked into it. PAH has basically nothing to do with Covid, so it wasn't obvious why it might help. Sildenafil increases blood nitric oxide levels, nitric oxide is a vasodilator, and there have been some experiments having patients inhale NO to improve blood oxygen levels. So...maybe? But huffing NO is a much more direct approach than Sildenafil. Nonetheless, a (tiny) clinical trial is underway and has been since July. If it were a breakthru we'd have heard about it by now.

So I asked my brother-in-law, the pharmacology professor. He shrugged. Didn't sound plausible to him, but I guess we'll see. Results are due in December.

What is the new Covid strain – and will vaccines work against it?
Testing of the new variant will take weeks, but scientists don’t expect it to cause more severe disease or be resistant to the vaccine

Physician Indicted on Charges of Selling Hydroxychloroquine as COVID-19 Cure

Federal law enforcement officials have issued an eight-count indictment against a doctor they say illegally imported and sold hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) as a curative for COVID-19.

Jennings Ryan Staley, MD, who ran the Carmel Valley, California–based Skinny Beach Med Spa, was charged in April, in part on allegations of selling $4000 "COVID-19 treatment packs." For that sum, he offered a telemedicine evaluation followed by a prescription for the medications in the kit, which included 20 tablets of HCQ, chloroquine, a "Z-pack" (azithromycin), 30 alprazolam pills, and 30 sildenafil pills. Purchasers also had 24/7 access to Staley and his team.

Sildenafil, if you're wondering, is Viagra. I guess you need that to...prop open the coffin lid?

That is its original purpose.  Treating "ED" was an off label use based on the observed side affects that eventually became accepted and finally approved.  Most people have long forgotten this.  You evidently did not.  But most have.

Alprazolam is also known as Xanax.  Have had an ongoing script for it for years now from when my cancer was initially detected.  Rarely take it, but it is very handy to have when you need it.  I call it retail candy.  Very helpful for dealing with unreasonable people in the real world, especially when you are on the other side of the counter from them.  Also nice to have when you mind is working too hard to relax and go to sleep.

When I was hospitalized on March 15 for suspected CV 19, azithromycin IV was the primary treatment.  Had it continually for the 4 days it took to get the test results back.  Along with my regular regime of Vito's C, D3 and zinc which were on file as part of my regular meds and supplements.  I presented myself with severe respiratory distress along with the other known symptoms for CV 19 at the time, which was later diagnosed as what I actually did have.  The azithromycin IV was appropriate for my respiratory problems in the end anyway.  Fun with COPD.

What we know now vs then is light years apart.  I won't touch the Hydroxychloroquine part.  But IIRC, many counties used it as their first line protocol back in the beginning as well.  Tom Hanks and his wife received it as their primary treatment in Australia back then in the beginning.  They are both still with us today.  The debate over it is still ongoing.

This doctor was busted in April and we are just now hearing about this ?  Or is this recycled news for use in pushing an agenda ?  I don't know the answer.  Nor care much either.  What I would like to know is how many of his "patients" died as a result of his prescribed treatments.  If you live in the Carmel area, $ 4k is what a nice can dinner cost.  Just ask the governor who had an even pricier one up in Napa that was immortalized on camera.  Who is now facing a recall over his authoritarian behaviour during this pandemic.  Got well over half the required petition signatures in 3 days ...

Just like there is going to be a flu vaccine forever. Nobody knows how long immunity will last but we would be lucky if it is 30 months.

yes, but past pandemics did eventually "fade away"
perhaps the virus mutated to be less deadly
