âIâm Joe Biden, and I want to show you that electing me would help with the problem of rioting in America, not make it worse. Portland - Iâd like you to not riot or even protest just for this evening, to show your support for a change in who holds the office of the President. One quiet night to show the world that you really do want change at the top. Thank you.â
No planning. If this is announced, the Very Fine People⢠will be sure to descend on the city waving Antifa flags.
I've been watching a lot of Mission Impossible in the past few days (Ghost Protocol is good!) So I'd want Biden's folks to talk to the protest leaders to get confirmation that it's possible, and what a statement it'd make. With that green light, Joe takes to the airwaves and the streets clear like magic a few minutes later.
True, the VFP will try to take advantage of it, but the statement has already been made. Actually, coordinating with the Portland Mayor to vilify the VFP as they move in, and hopefully drive them back, would be a cherry on top. That implies the police would cooperate with that, which is an unknown to me.

one huge problem is that people won't trust them
there's so much horrific video out there now
i'm not just speaking about the followers, i'm talking about the blm/anti leaders too
expect it to be trotted out and played ad nauseum
this could possibly turn a lay-up to win the election into a half court buzzer beater...

âI believe there are going to be people who were involved with the attack on us that actually were paid to come here and are not from Washington, D.C., and are sort of paid to be anarchists,â Paul said. âThe FBI needs to investigate but the only way you can do it is you have to arrest people.â
NBA has a big problem. The very people they wish to reach are not the audience for their game. Boycotting will only harm those that enjoy NBA basketball which are the very same people that already support their cause. They are only hurting themselves and the owners and eventually will really be hurting their bank accounts if they are forced to actually work for a living like regular people. Fortunately or unfortunately as the case may be, the little people who support these organizations are unaffected by this due to already losing their jobs.
Covid first and now these boycotts will only bring further light that we do not need sports as we examine what is really important in our lives.
What's this got to do with looting & vandalism? seems to me it's peaceful protest?
This is true, just couldn't find a more appropriate thread near the top; will move it to there when I find one.

What was a seventeen year-old kid doing with a goddam AR-15?
Second amendment remedies.
And folks are naive if they don't expect Trumpers (yes, this kid had a MAGA hat on his media) to eventually, but not now, take up arms to defend against an overreaching government. But first, they'll let this overreaching government do whatever the fuck it wants.
Like I said, carried by 6 or judged by 12. That is the choice the cops have these days.
Do no harm should be a primary objective of a police officer These matters are complicated, and breaking the answers down to a bumper sticker is where we get into trouble. Should force had been used, perhaps, But 7 shots to the back? Something is out of sync
How three cops couldn't restrain one man when they had him on the ground on the passenger side of the car is beyond me. One shot would have sufficed. A taser would have been better.
There's still no statement from the police as to why the three cops were in a violent confrontation with Blake in the first place.
Personally, I'm fed up with the violence during these unplanned protests. But as Kyle Rittenhouse showed, you can't always blame the BLM protesters.
