Amid this backdrop, officers in states such as New York, Oregon, Iowa and Kentucky took knees while policing ongoing demonstrations, in acts that replicated the protest started by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Wasn't that a really bad and unpatriotic thing to do? Especially while on the clock?
We had our second night of this sort of thing last evening.
There was a BLM rally at a major intersection about a mile and a half from the state capital, and about half of the several thousand people at the rally marched to the capital. This all went off without any issue other than a couple of assholes spray-painting slogans on the capital building; followed by marchers frantically cleaning it off.
Towards evening, 200-300 people headed for the police station while the majority dispersed without incident. At this point, the remaining marchers were joined by about a dozen WHITE guys on bicycles and wearing backpacks. By the time they arrived at the police station, the crowd was almost entirely WHITE, with several heavily tattooed skinheads in their number. Then the shit started.
Sorry, when I see those letters I still think of The Bureau of Land Management first. An occasional government terrorist arm in its own right and a usual enemy of the people. I guess that it is from being an old racist white man growing up west of The Rockies kinda thing. Like WWF is wrestling. That has nothing to do with west of The Rockies but it is still the same idea.
Just goes to show that message sent is not always the message received. Guess I ain't woke enough.
Looting in my city today. Under curfew tonight. This was no protest, simply smashing of glass and theft/vandalism. On Twitter: "the city's full of racist white rich people." We'll ignore the irony of saying that the "white people" are racist.
You tolerate this shit only so far, and then they deserve consequences.
As the GOP would say of the folks trying to cross the border: you just needed to have followed the rules. We're a nation of laws.

By the same token, looting & vandalism are not violence against people. Which is worse, cops cracking heads of peaceful protesters and shooting rubber bullets into a journalist's face, or smashing a window?
