I think we've all learned to sort through the folks who have a legitimate opinion that isn't mainstream - political or otherwise. (I, for instance, still believe that Boogie On is Stevie's best song, even though people disagree.)
But we've also learned that there are a few posters who just stir the pot, without contributing much thought other than simply being annoying - for the "fun" of it. Their supposed opinions on the subject aren't relevant - it's their transparent attempt to just get someone to interact with them, even if it's to tell them off.
As Tolle and others have said, you can't eliminate darkness with more darkness, you have to bring in light. So I suppose we start by saying something along the lines of "WTF?" but end up ceding the ground to the repeated nonsense; responding to it with reality just makes them try harder to tug at your sleeve until you can't have your grown-up conversation. We're familiar with this.
The good thing is that as close as we are to the end of this election season (I'm ignoring the inevitable controversy and probably violence that'll immediately follow), when browsing the forums at RP it's easier to remember the words of the great philosopher William Murray.
This right here is your reminder of how political differences has become so divisive. We have a similar situation in Canada.
sure, he shouldnt say that, especially being president...but how is this any different than calling all democrats losers, crooked hillary, clinton murders, obama an illegal alien socialist...and all the lies that fox (the talk shows, not necessarily news programs like brett bauer) and trump spread daily? I'm curious how one could completely ignore these flaws?
Actually what this represents is the method called circular reporting used by the legacy media to spread false stories and disinformation.
Someone makes a statement, then the next player cites that statement as proof for a point trying to be made. Then the next player cites the false reference and so on. It continues so far that the original post is buried and the act of repeatedly using the second post is used as proof of the false claim's veracity.
It was not done here intentionally. It only went that way because it fit the assumptions and confirmation biases made about people like you and I and no one even tries to backscroll anymore.
Just for the satisfaction of our fellow peeps here is the original post chain in the Trump thread.

Thx, but unnecessary. Those specific opponents don't care.
And because they don't/won't/could never, therefore, I don't care. And thus, the state of the forum's decline for political discussion was foreseen long ago. The ill-tempers and quality of the discussion often reflects that reality. And that's before the very contentious election in front of y'all.
It is pretty amazing how this has come to be attributed to you. No one backscrolls anything anymore. And then the drive by irregulars pop in not knowing anything current and a new urban myth is created. Yo, peeps ... This is just a repost of a reply that was directed at Beaker from our newest arrival who has yet to understand us here. I forget his handle. Beaker has just been simply reposting it as necessary to those it applies to.
Meh. My use of humour on this forum is only to serve my own vast ego. If others discover the path to laughter I have taken, that's cool too.
I recall we mocked Servo similarly, long ago, for something equally and utterly insane he posted. This mockery is in that vein. Sad that it has to be èsplaned!
Yeah, good old Servo.

Yes. It would create the echo chamber that you are seeking. Maybe try Threads - I hear it may be more suitable to your apparent needs.

Please do not ever respond to another one of my posts.
I'm not interested in anything you have to say about anything.
If you do respond to anything I have to say going forward on this site, I will consider it harassment and bullying.
Your thoughts are not welcome when it comes to my posts.
Thank you for your compliance.

Interesting but misguided thoughts you have there. There would be no need for any healing if not for Trump. The political divisiveness running up to and including his first term was beyond anything anyone had ever experienced. Since then, he continues to sow division, chaos & express his wishes for complete authoritarian rule. To try and pretend that the Dems or the media precipitated this is total bullsh*t. And you gotta be kidding me complaining about "Biden's" rhetoric. Really? The "threat to democracy" statement went over-the-line for you? Gimmie a break.
When does the healing begin? It hopefully starts with Trump being marginalized by losing the upcoming election. But of course if he loses, he will once again make baseless claims of fraud and drag our country through more unnecessary drama. Insurrection II? Who knows.
I anticipate that if Trump loses then in about 8 years his name and legacy will be largely dismissed and he will likely be hobbling around Mara Lago with his care nurses in tow bitching to each other about what a total SOB he is.
The far left and their media enablers are not going to help you accomplish this - they have a vested interest in keeping everyone divided - and angry. You didn't come together under Bush or Obama, and certainly not Trump term 1. And in this last cycle, Biden's rhetoric did nothing but throw gas on the fire - Trump certainly was no slouch there either. And now you are very likely about to see Trump term 2. Barring a certain miracle, I doubt the divisions will heal at all.
So it's the left who's responsible for this? The racism, the hate, the division? The left? We wouldn't be here were it not for hacks like Newt Gingrich and Steve Bannon.
Or are you simply saying that it's the left who is capable of cleaning up the mess, just like the economic messes before left behind by various GOP administrations? That I can get behind. The left has done it before and will no doubt do it again, once the right has finished its wreckage.
The question (lesson ?) from the 2024 election cycle is ... how ever are y'all going to heal and come together if it remains so divisive?

So what's it going to take? Post Trump term 2 for the next possibility of some real healing? Because no one expects the hatred and division to get any better for the next 4 yrs.
If you haven't heard, there's a LOT of liberal folks that identify with this meme:
