yep. i've been here since 2001, mainly for the music. i suppose i should tune into the blog, but i don't because as i mentioned, i'd rather listen to the music than read a blog.
i disagree with what you said above in bold. and, i'm not seeing the new music, since i've been around - though he addressed this in his answer to me. he's got a plan, i read his response.
i appreciated william's answer since he's the head of it. i didn't realize you worked there, too.
Of course you're free to disagree with things I said. I'm not "working there", just have been an active listener over decades, and "newly" become a reader of the RP blog, which didn't exist before the new layout and design.
What you disagree with in my above post is only my personal observation. Interestingly (to me) it doesn't match yours.
Of course, the Main Mix is and has always been the most diverse one, meaning with the least repetitions as compared to RP's other mixes. Yet it has always had it's repetitions, too. Something already discussed ad nauseam in various threads on this forum.
Since the move to Eureka, William has put in a lot of effort of taking in new music to the Main Mix which wasn't previously there. I think it is a big win for RP, so far.
As for plans of taking in other DJs to manage other channels, such as Global, Rock, & Mellow Mixes - plus previously announced potential future mixes such as Jazz, Electronic, Classical, or whatever potential future mixes (see early posts on the RP-BLOG) ... I think it is simply a huge undertaking that needs time and of course, good planning.
It all seems to amount (imho) to taking care of RP's future. I salute William and the RP team for this, as I think they are working on an invaluable support to humanity and culture that is not only becoming more and more popular in the whole world, but also way more difficult to manage as it keeps growing, and it has been growing big time over the decades in reach and in RP owned infrastructure, I guess.

ok. so we can look forward to less repetition on the main mix, since it's got the same problem as the rock mix, (thus why i moved from main mix to rock mix).
that is good to hear, if that is the case. (please don't get rid of the "my favorites" option. )
i personally like having the options of channels other than the main mix, because sometimes on the main mix for example i get too much of the global mix stuff that i don't care for, or too much of mellow mix stuff that finds its way onto the main mix. and i do use the skip/fast forward/play something different option often, as well, which i'm thankful for.
does more DJs mean more talking? or more people/DJ's making mixes? i know a couple of people who would happily volunteer (not for the talking). curious why more DJs are a priority.
Thanks, as always, William for answering.

My priority is the Main Mix. Hoping to have some time to devote to the Rock Mix soon. Itâs definitely the most in need of some love.
As for other priorities, getting everything in place to invite other DJs into RP is a big one. That is getting close to being ready. My plan for quite some time is to hand off our other channels and focus my attention solely on the main mix.

Yay - I love the main mix. And the Journey song that is playing now is priceless.
but, what are those bigger fish? and, why wouldn't the music be a first priority?

Bring back the RP of yore.
Don't get me wrong....I like the extras and whatnot, and I understand that there are bigger fish to fry right now, I guess? The music should be the big fish.

i know there have been PSAs about the rock mix being updated, and also some PSA's saying to switch to the main mix for more music - but, i had to leave the main mix to switch to the rock mix in the first place a couple months ago because of the daily artist/song repetition...
i've kept a crude spreadsheet for a couple of months regarding the rock mix to track examples of repetition, and here's one example of many:
4 Black Keys songs in 8 hrs (11/7/23 between 8AM - 4PM EST) which that seems excessive and unnecessary considering how many artists and songs are in the RP library.
Played 11/7:
Run Right Back
Fever
Dead and Gone
Every Little Thing
the repetition of same artists being played daily as well as the same songs by these same artists being repeated twice, three times, often 4 or more times a week seems...bizarre. i know there's lots going on behind the scenes at RP these days, but when is the focus going to get back on the mix/music instead of, for example, hiring someone to update the wikipedia entries about the artists (when anyone who is interested could simply Google an artist for the wikipedia entry if so inclined). please, can the focus get back to the music that brought us all here to RP in the first place years ago?
i love RP, don't get me wrong. it's enriched my life greatly since 2001. i would happily put money where my "mouth" is, if the focus could return.
Same.
Literally everything you just said.

Why are some songs overplayed on the Rock Mix? It's like some songs get played EVERY FREAKING DAY (or maybe it's every-other-day, I'm not actually keeping track.) It causes me to change the station (back to the main mix;-)
