What's amazing about your discussion of timing (quote above) is your blind spot for the damage done by Trump. Instead of thinking that Putin saw weakness in Biden, what he understood is that the US would never be weaker than it was at the end of the Trump era. Trump had done as much of Putin's heavy lifting as was ever going to get done by a US President, and it was either now or never.
There is a lot that Joe could have done better last night, and since taking office, but the world outside of Russia and China are much happier that Biden is in the White House instead of Trump. As bad as things are, they would be significantly worse with Trump in office. Beyond the head of state, the people running the government today are infinitely more capable than the clowns in place 2 years ago. Stealing that election may have saved Democracy, and the world appreciates it.
Look, my president sucks. Putin began his troop buildup along the Ukrainian border in April of last year just a couple of months after Biden took office. He telegraphed what he was going to do. The same team was back in the WH when he took Crimea. He waited and watched Biden's handling of Afghanistan, the focus on redirecting the priorities of our military towards Climate Change as the most pressing issue we faced. The focus of our military over the use of pronouns and gender identity and finally the drumming out of active duty soldiers over vaccination status. It was clear to everyone that Biden was deconstructing our military with all of his power to do so. Didn't Kerry try to reason with Putin over the affects of his invasion in regards to Climate Change ? . WTF ? How stupid does one have to be to not see what was involved in Putin's timing ? I cannot see how anyone is surprised by Putin's timing and actions, this being Putin's personal number one goal in life, the retaking of Ukraine.
You may think and say that how we got to this point doesn't matter. Others do think that it matters. History is repeating itself and Biden is making Chamberlain look like a genius in comparison. And that is a really low bar.
We are just getting started with this snowball rolling down the hill and if your skin is already this thin, then may the Lord help your soul. This can only get worse before it gets better. China is watching and waiting. Are you aware of that or even considering that ?
