You would think.  He could probably afford to just throw them away and buy new ones when they get dirty.  That's what I might do if I were making starting pitcher money.

"...Greg Maddux saw Tony Gwynn more than anyone. The former Atlanta Braves hurler faced Gwynn 107 times during their overlapping Hall-of-Fame careers. Maddux didn’t strike Gwynn out a single time — not once..

...The righthander was (once) discussing how changing speeds and having control are far more important than velocity, because no hitter can tell the exact speed of a pitch. Well, except one…
'...You just can’t do it,' Maddux said. 'Sometimes hitters can pick up differences in spin. They can identify pitches if there are different release points or if a curveball starts with an upward hump as it leaves the pitcher’s hand. But if a pitcher can change speeds, every hitter is helpless, limited by human vision.  Except for that (expletive) Tony Gwynn.'”

Is that for "premium" beer (craft beers, imports, etc.)?  This chart shows lower prices but I assume it's just for Budweiser or Miller, etc.  I haven't been to a ML park in a while though.  I remember a period of time in the early-to-mid '80s, a pint cup of generic beer from a "tray" vendor cost more at Shea Stadium than it did at Yankee Stadium; I never knew why.

A long, long time ago I went to a minor league game and we were drinking the pretty good local kolsch. But the 5th inning round tasted like swill. Nearly positive they swapped in a keg of bud, thinking no one would notice by that time. About all I could do was report the situation to the local brewery so they could keep an eye on things.

That graph is a lie. I was talking about the Colorado Rockies, and the chart shows they have a $3 beer. Maybe in a shot glass in the Rockpile on Tuesday afternoons. The only beers within 10 sections of my seats a couple of years ago were $14 Rolling Rocks, altho they were 24oz.

Oakland A's games (1980s) used to have a 32oz PAPER cup of Coors for $3. Impossible to drink before the cup dissolved, but I gave 'er a go.

Yeah, I forgot about the big paper cups - you had to try to guzzle the beer before the cup disintegrated and/or it would get crushed and spill all over you.   The 16oz. were plastic cups at least.

I'm almost glad they're not going to let me into the park to see these "games".   Maybe when everyone sees what a terrible idea it is it will go away and we won't have to hear any more talk of adding it permanently, but you probably have to go all the way back to Bill Veeck to find someone in baseball who cared about what the fans thought.

Our local college used to get interesting people in to give talks. including Bill Veeck. He was fun.

I took my boys to Dodger Stadium about 6-7 summers ago. A bottle of Heineken was $13. We went with the cheaper swill, which was about $8 a can, I think. Little plastic bottles of water were $5. It's just insanely expensive to eat and drink at a major sports venue.

Yeah, everything is very expensive for all major sports any more - even minor league baseball.

Fresno's AAA Grizzlies/Tacos have $8 burgers and $5 20 oz. beers so fill 'er up. On Tacos Tuesday especially.

It's a AAA rule too and let me tell you it sucks the fun out of an exciting game.
