I put tomatoes in pots this year - a couple of cherry varieties and an early girl. I put cages in with them and they grew up nicely and already have several nice fruits forming. I've got them moved so they are resting against a wall, but the wall gets hot, Will that be okay for them?
The wall might get too hot if temps are high. I assume the wall is to kep the pots from falling over? If so might try to add some weight to the top of the pot or somehow to the pot t counter balance. Old workout weights tied to some rope and draped over the top can help assuming enough weight. When I was growing bigger plants in pots I used old workout weights at the bottom of the pot for counterbalance weight. It can require a considerable amount of weight to work well (10-20lbs). If you want to grow from seed might look into dwarf plants. Several people have bred better ones (from heirlooms) for containers. See http://nctomatoman.weebly.com/dwarf-tomato-project-introduction-and-information.htmlnctomatoman is/was an RPer. I dont think he's ben active for awhile though.

Zep wrote: Thanks Jrzy. There are other tomato stands in the plot (it's a community garden) and some of them have the spotting, but many others don't. Wonder if I can stop it?
Only dry conditions or nasty chems will stop it. Copper sprays and a few other sprays might be helpful. These others are generally expensive (Actinovate or Milstop) and are best used preventatively. They don't "cure" disease problems but rather reduce them from getting worse.

Septoria Leaf SpotI get it every year. sometimes it overtakes the plants. most seasons, the plants will keep growing and it slows down later in the season. It spreads from the bottom and works its way up. doesn't seem to affect the fruit that's already present. KC Tomato will know much more about this.
