But unless your talking to fellow Italians in this thread, English would probably work best. I was gonna suggest hyperbole and invective but, hey.

US Setting Up Bases in Italy for Africa Raids — News from Antiwar.comLibya, Somalia Seen as Main Focus of Attacks
US ambitions for more military operations in Africa have stalled with the struggles to piece together an African Command (AFRICOM) to lead such operations, and prospects for realignment suggest that AFRICOM may be folded outright. But the ambitions haven’t changed, and the US has been building up its military deployments in Italy, particularly Sicily, with an eye on using the nation as a jumping off point for attacks on African nations. 200 Marines have recently been deployed to Sicily, for example, giving them a convenient way to raid Libya at any given time, and other deployments aimed at targeting Somalia. Overall, there are now some 13,000 US troops on the ground in Italy, spanning 50 different sites. This is actually several times the overall size of AFRICOM, but reflects growing plans for US military operations, particularly in northern Africa.

Tourists attached plastic bags to their legs or stripped off to take a dip in St Mark's Square in Venice on Sunday as rising sea waters surged through the lagoon city.
Venice's high water, or "acqua alta", said to be the sixth highest since 1872, flooded 70% of the city and was high enough to make raised wooden platforms for pedestrians float away.

Giant, Red Roaches Invade Italyby Barbie Latza NadeauThe Daily BeastJuly 12, 2012Long plagued by poor garbage collection, the city of Naples is crawling with these creepy critters. And health workers fear they could eventually carry disease. If the thought of giant, red cockroaches makes your skin crawl, you might want to stop reading now. You also might want to avoid Naples, Italy for the time being since the city is literally crawling with millions of these creepy insects.
The invasion started in early July with a massive hatch in the city’s sewers, which hadn’t been cleaned or disinfected in over a year because of budget cuts triggered by Italy’s economic crisis. To make matters worse, changes to the city’s garbage collection system, which functioned poorly even during the best of times thanks to infiltration by organized-crime syndicates, require residents and restaurants to put out their garbage the night before early morning collectors pick it up, leaving festering food on the curbside by the sewer drains. Add the above-average temperatures and high humidity and you’ve got a cockroach paradise. Now city workers are spraying sewers, stores and restaurants several times a day to try to stop the critters from multiplying. When the poison kills them, their dry shells litter the sidewalks. Street sweepers are working extra shifts to remove the crunchy carcasses. Health workers fear the insects could eventually carry hepatitis A or typhoid fever if they aren’t able to contain the invasion. Cockroaches are also known asthma triggers and city authorities have warned asthma sufferers to stay away from the most affected parts of the city...
