Yep, recurring patterns, compatibly relative frequencies, but a little too repetitive. One or two more variables in the formula

Oh, but there are TONS of variables in there. That's the fun part. Little tiny shifts in the number of repetitive notes, the meter. It seems like a wave of sameness to people but, if you let it wash over you, you hear the intense delicacy in it.
Same with one of my favorite pieces of music EVAR:
Seriously. This always starts off my Desert Island discs. Close your eyes and just let this happen...
