If you create a shared Dropbox folder and everyone joins, everyone can work on it on their own machines with their own software. If two people make edits at the same time it can cause a problem but it does let you know what happened.

There's probably a better system tho.

The Dropbox approach has another advantage: you can use any file format you like and any software. With Google Docs your data is hostage to Google and it's in Google Docs format.

Right. You can save it out ("Download As…") as Word or whatever when you're done though.

You can also use box.com for this purpose.  Free accounts, I believe it has Microsoft office built into this function.  Get multiple users similar to drop.

That's the only method I've ever used; it's worked well for me.  I imagine there are others though.

okay, weird. I had RP playing in firefox and had some issues so I used task manager to close that window. Closed the browser and reopened. RP continued to play uninterrupted. Just closed all of my firefox windows and browser again. RP is still playing. Is there anything I can do short of restarting my computer? Just asking for when I log off work for the day.

EDIT: nothing a reboot couldn't solve.  Just a pain the ass

Thanks, I just woke up with it yesterday morning.  Was afraid to search for it, before trying to get it.

Now I need to pick a template for the site and come up with a logo.

And :shudder: finally go to FB and get a page.  Already got the user name at discogs.

Do you suppose if I contacted someone at Microsoft they could or would remote in and fix my GD laptop and straighten out all the crap that happened when Windows10 tried to install itself several times?  Nothing works very well anymore.  Highly frustrating.  I'm no longer tech savvy enough to do anything about it!  I think it's an age thing maybe, or not.

Might be worth a try.  From what I have read though, if 10 is installed, it cannot be reversed after 30 days.

Great.

Here's a couple of places I have discovered that seem informative.  The keyword for the right search was registrar.  Sure saved time, thanks for that.

2013 Registrar Accreditation Agreement

Google.  Hmmm.  Might be a good idea if they do all the right things.

I use GoatDaddy and have had no problems. They are also on the ICANN approved lisp.

That's the link I posted in an edit to my first response.  And EasyDNS, where that page is hosted, is a registrar - clearly one with the right attitude.

Google is now doing domains. (thanks SFW for that mention a while back)
Could be a good choice.  I'd be willing to give them a try - if they were providing services to citizens of Canuckistan.

Here's one of the search results of best domain registrars.

And I updated my previous post with a link on some reading about the ins and outs and dirty tricks that some registrars will try to pull.

Truth.

Although the cheap cheap bundled packages make me think that maybe a person doing what's essentially a vanity site (me) might be better off starting with a .org just to get it going, then if it turns into something you really want to pursue, create a .com for it "the right way," alias the old domain to point to the .com. Then stop paying the bill at the old .org site and let it decay naturally. Might take a year or more before it stops working. I'm sure there's a good reason for not doing it this way...
