Would a consumer boycott improve the material conditions of life for these children?

It turns out that building schools doesn't improve their material conditions either.

"Families and friends lived close together; people gathered to sing, joke, and tell stories in the evenings; the mountains and valleys were beautiful; life was slow-paced, and there was plenty of time for relaxation and enjoyment.  My friend was sent to a school where she did well, eventually took advantage of an Army program that enabled her to train as a nurse, moved to the U.S., and spent the rest of her life thousands of miles from her home and family.  She made a good living and sent money home to her family, but she was well aware that this was not the way it worked for everybody. I asked her what happens to the girls from her province who do not succeed in school.

"Without missing a beat, she said, “They get trafficked.”

"The World Bank isn’t giving us any data on this. Girls’ education raises GDP, the development agencies all crow!  Yes, but transitioning rural people from self-sufficient farming into sweatshops also raises GDP.  Girls’ education lowers the infant mortality rate! Yes, but what if introducing school failure into rural areas also raises the sex trafficking rate?  It’s commonly assumed that lack of education in developing areas is a risk factor for trafficking, but apparently the evidence suggests the opposite; according to the Strategic Information Response Network, vulnerability to human trafficking correlates with more schooling and the migration to urban areas in search of money that usually follows it.

So what is the answer?   A consumer boycott?

Would a consumer boycott magically transform those children so their parents immediately start to enrol them in activities like Girl Guides/Scouts?

Would a consumer boycott improve the material conditions of life for these children?

"And it wasn’t just Trump. Accounts are vanishing quickly, including some popular Trump supporter accounts. I myself have lost hundreds of followers on Twitter in the last few hours, and I’ve seen people saying they lost a lot more.

"It also wasn’t just Trump supporters; leftist accounts are getting suspended too. The online left is hopefully learning that cheering for Twitter “banning fascists” irrationally assumes that (A) their purges are only banning fascists and (B) they are limiting their bans to your personal definition of fascists. There is no basis whatsoever for either of these assumptions.

I'll try again ... This quote or whatever it is we are discussing was found and reported in at least two reputable sources at the time. I posted the search info as proof. It has since disappeared or been removed, yet it was reported and cited. I'm not giving it any credence, just saying that it was reported in credible places and therefore was legitimate to repost, at that particular point in time. Since then and subsequent, not prior to the post here at RP, it has disappeared from these credible outlets.

I had to use something for search terms and picked the guy's name mentioned in the quote. That led me to my results that I shared.

Again, the fault you should be finding is with the outlets that originally reported it and gave it credence enough to be reposted, at the time of the repost. Not with the poster as you and the others have done. As you all usually do, especially you with your short list of what you consider to be the only acceptable sources of news that are legitimate enough to be referenced here. There are places for news and information besides the Washington Post and the New York Times which you hold to be infallible, unimpeachable and above reproach.

Hey, I trust you when you said you searched with Google and came up with those two hits. It is odd that (IIRC) the links didn't work when you clicked on them and the brief summaries of the links that had showed up on the Google page disappeared.

If I had to guess, I'd say that someone tried to manipulate Google into showing two dodgy results (not an easy thing to do) and that Google removed those results once they were checked and found unreliable. It's possible that the original sources (one of them was the Chattanooga Times, right?) removed the stories from their sites once they found them unreliable, not credible, etc.

So I'll try again and then bow out of this conversation: Sirdroseph's first post on the matter (it basically requoted someone else's Tweet, I think) provided no explanation or backstory to its listing of factoids. It felt like an attempt at connecting the dots...but there was no connecting. For instance, it didn't explain what a supercomputer at a location had to do with voting machines supposedly at the same location. And there was a brief mention that AT&T was involved with an examination of voting machines but no links to back that up.

It strikes me that sirdroseph came across the dying echo of a conspiracy theory and posted it. It'd be helpful if sirdroseph chimed in and provided some explanation. But this is a non-story.

If nothing else, my conclusion from the beginning that AT&T was the target was spot on. Why is what we will be talking about going forward, if at all.

Yeah, my level of concern is measured by what I post to RP
. And it is particularly important that I respond to every post from you asking why no one is discussing it. Well, I wasn't discussing it because I had nothing to say. Someone blew up an RV in front of an AT&T building. Give yourself a pat on the back for the brilliant analysis that it could be the target. Duh. Some of us figured that the FBI could look at all the evidence and put the story together then let us know. But thanks it was really important that I hear it sooner from you.

A commentator with extensive military intel experience wrote that it looked like a "probing attack" to see the effect of and response to a disruption in the communications network. I don't give putin that much credit to start whatever kind of rumor was needed to get someone to prepare the attack. But I do give him credit to collect and analyse the information and turn it into an intelligence win. For that matter, I expect some US right wing terrorists have done the same.

Over the years, I've encountered schizophrenic people on the street and have had to engage them in conversation just to slide past them. I've taken pride in listening to their relatively incoherent statements and trying to understand the logic behind them.

But AFAIK the person whom sirdroseph quoted in his post (found https://radioparadise.com/comm... ) was not schizophrenic. They were trying to make persuasive claims about skulduggery involving the presidential election, but they forgot to include things like logic, evidence and a structured hypothesis about this supposed conspiracy. So I had no reason to google about Kennard, an AT&T building, voting machines, etc.

Kurt, if you want to try to make sense of out that post by googling, have at it. I think you're wasting your time.

Never said that there was any relationship between AT&T and election rigging.  Did I ?

All that I said was that, to me, AT&T was the target, period.  The only speculation I made was that it was possibly a former U-verse customer, in jest.  Go back to the beginning, please.

Why did I come to my original conclusion ?  The location of the blast and because there was a warning to evacuate before the blast went off.  People were obviously not the intended targets, otherwise there would have been no such warning.  Turns out that I was correct.  The motive is only now becoming clear.  Knowing the motive was not necessary to determine what the target was in this case.  And so easy.  At least to me ...

“Turns out that I was correct.” Why is that important or of significance?
