Yeah I was thinking about the risks faced by people at an optician's shop before I wrote my reply to you. Your post really filled in the details of the dilemmas. This can't be easy for you although you seem pretty calm and serene about it. Thumbs up.

I'm gonna pass on trying to watch Hannity again. Wow his Web page was filled with ads. The guy makes $30+ million/year at Fox. Does he really need to sell ad space for a cock ring that supposedly fixes erectile dysfuction or doggie comfort beds? If you think Hannity has something powerful to say, you might wanna try summarizing it.

Sadly I've never done shrooms. My brother used to but not anymore. Is medical marijuana legal in OH? I'm sure you could qualify for a prescription. I haven't smoked pot in 30+ years and smoked it less than 10x in my life. I miss it from to time. A better high than alcohol.

I would agree with your thoughts in the first paragraph that I quoted but the reasons for our being in this dilemma (including Trump) are going to affect what happens next. But right now it's in the middle of the night and I have no desire to think of Trump before  go I  back to sleep.

Good luck to you and yours! Stay safe. We'll get through this.

It depends on which site you're on and maybe your browser.  When that happens, i'll just go back and copy the text that should be in the quote box and paste it in and continue as normal.  I'm mostly on the legacy site and if you're on the new site it is more likely to happen to you the way it does, I think.

I don't see anything that you see on his site.  Try clearing yer cookies.

Yep, calm and serene.  I've already done the crazy thing.  It will be what it will be and I will always land on my feet until I don't.  That is my belief system.  That is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Yep med is legal in Ohio, and both of us could qualify if we wanted to.  Costs about $300 to $400 to get one license that must be renewed every six months with the Dr visit and all, and then you go on a national pharmacy registry list in Ohio.  I'm crazy but I ain't stupid.  Been figuring it out for 55 years now.  Not worried about it.

Hah !  Yeah be safe.  I've got one more side to run and then I'm going to call it a night.

Oh and if you need any records please visit my store.  I will discount very nicely for any RPeeps.

I'm going to get very serious for a minute here.

I'm putting up a link to Hannity's opening monologue last night that I think that many here should look at so that they might know or want to know what people like me are seeing and considering in their view regarding all this BS that is being thrown in people's faces like me regarding how Trump did not take things seriously enough in the beginning.

A montage of all of your hero's, pundits and newspapers who y'all cite here on a regular basis who are trying to whip up fear and disgust after doing a complete about face regarding how Trump was over reacting in the beginning.

They all said that this Pandemic was a big nothing burger and that is all it would ever be.

To spare y'all a lot of unnecessary stuff, start at about 13:40 and keep watching, no matter how much it hurts you to do so.  You will be much better informed about what I'm thinking about y'all after doing so.  If ya really have some cajone's go back and watch the rest starting at about 2:30.  But at least do the 13:40 thing on.  You may end up preventing a lot of personal embarrassment to yourselves down the road.

I tried watching that video but just saw an endless string of ads—a lawyer drumming for clients, an ED device, exercise bands, etc. Very impressive.

The text on the page mentioned details de Blasio and Cuomo. While they had a hand in New York's coronavirus outbreaks, their responsibilities pale in comparison to Trump's. Trump was warned by Obama's staff during the transition period between administrations that the US was not ready to handle a pandemic. He was warned by HHS Secretary Azar and his White House staff back in mid January that a coronavirus pandemic could hit the US.

Trump and Hannity repeatedly downplayed this issue. Hannity said that pandemics "occur from time to time" but dismissed the possible severity of this crisis. Trump wants to end quarantines by Easter which would be a disaster.

This pandemic is like 9/11 on a national scale combined with the financial crash of 2008. We didn't get hit by terrorists but we did get hit by an infectious and deadly virus. There's plenty of blame to go around for lack of awareness, preparedness, leadership and coordination but Trump is at the top of the list.

You might want to consider what you're going to do Kurt. IIRC you work in an optician's store. New glasses and new frames will very likely be deferred purchases for most people, especially if they have little or no income from jobs coming in.

I just went to the link and once it loaded,  I was able to go straight to the time mark I mentioned, 13:40 and it went fine.  It's only 5 minutes but those 5 minutes are the entire point.  Nothing of what you mentioned refers to that.  Try again, I think you might find it worth your while. Seriously.

Yep, I'm an optician and last worked on March 14th, went into the hospital on the 15th and now I'm home, haven't worked since and one of the two shops is closed and the main store is open 10 - 2 and the phones are not ringing.  Right now as an optician, the job is scary as hell just being healthy because there is absolutely no way you can do any part of it without touching someone or the personal property on their faces, their glasses.  Gloves are not going to work either, need bare hands.  And that's just me.

Look at it from your side as a consumer.  It is one thing to just go in and pick up something and go, but all of the handling of frames, trying them on and taking them off, adjusting, cleaning, even in normal times is dicey.  You just hope that people come in clean and healthy.  Frames are all over the place and people are trying stuff on from some else's pile at times.  The week starting on the 9th we just made people put the frames on the counters and leave them for us to take to the back and wash off each one with a Lysol formula, scrub, rinse and dry and return to the front.  Everyone and in the one store we have over 3,000 frames.  I can't see how it is worth the hassle and expense of cleaning 90% of the time and selling little in between.  You touch it, we gotta wash it.  Just as much for me as you.  Now the risk is now on me when I pick up the frame to go and wash it.  And so what do you hope for when you come into try on glasses ?  Do you worry about how the place keeps the frames on their boards clean in between customers ?  If you never thought of it before, I bet you are now.  If I was you, I'd be scared to come into a cootie exchange and put something dangerous on my face ?  Does the gas station clean the sunglasses in the racks that 20 people could try on in a day?  No one will think about that, but when you come into an actual store, you're thinking differently and if you don't feel comfortable or safe, it just isn't going to work.  So no one in their right mind is only going looking for glasses if they have a choice and unless broken or lost, you have no idea what people will put up with to avoid fixing things properly.  There are not enough desperate people out there to support the entire business right now.  We are essential and can stay open, but for what ?

So I'm done.  I haven't worked since the 14th and I sure as hell don't want to go back until at least June, if the store doesn't fold.  I'll get whatever I get with unenjoyment and ride it out, playing frogger going to the store for stuff trying not to get hit by the bug while outside.  I'm not worried about the first wave, I'm worried about the second wave.

Right now, I have nothing but time on my hands.  Pretty much with what its been like more often than not lately, so there is little adjustment to be made to survive all cooped up and restricted.  I'm only going on with this thought because I can, time is no longer an issue.  I just have to make sure that I can get to a store when it is open, score, and come home.  Doesn't matter how late I stay up anymore, if I turn night into day.  As long as I eat and keep the wife together and bokey's litter box clean (yes, we really did name our cat after bokey and he knows it, too) and us healthy, nothing else matters.  We have a tidy stash of meds and medical supplies, cuz that is what we are and have been for a long, long time.  I show up at my doc's office every other Wednesday which keeps me in close touch to help if I need it real fast, like I just did.  The place is paid for, just lot rent and utilities.  Two paid off cars that run.  I'm going to spend my time ripping records and hopefully selling more than I buy right now.  That's it.  I am off the hamster wheel and just trying to keep alive now.  And spend some time here and at Discogs trying to keep up with the record collection.  In the winter, it is not unusual for me not to go outside for a week, except if I have work.  Cabin fever ?  Sure, is that something new ?  I don't think so.  I've been working the drill into perfection for the past 10 years.

This is not a drill.  The drill is over.   Yes, I have been taking this seriously from day one. Time to find out how well I did preparing for the thing we hoped would never happen.  And I'm trying to eliminate negativity in my mind.  I'll be happy to go down rabbit holes to keep my mind exercised, but I'm not looking for any pissing contests.  Too late to worry about how we got here.  It's what comes next that is most important, to me.

Food, hygiene and music with an illegal smile.  That's it, bro.  If you have any extra 'shrooms, you could send them my way and I'm real good.

One day at a time.

If I had a day to live and the choice of Elon Musk, an engineer at Ford, or an engineer at GM to invest something to save my life....Elon is my choice.

Tesla isn't really a car company.  Tech company...battery maker...software company?   Beyond Tesla and Space X, he's also found 2 companies that he's sold for nice paydays....The first he sold in 1999 and took home ~$20M, then he started another company that merged to form Paypal.  He pocketed $160M in 2002 for Paypal's sale to eBay.  He's a jerk....but he's our jerk now.  It may not work out, but I'm happy he's on the team.

His DNA drives him to solve problems.  He enjoys deep complexity.   He doesn't need money, so he is free to focus on things that interest him...and being the guy who eliminated a disease or two from the planet is probably one of the few ego boosts left for a guy who's spent half of his life as the richest person alive.

In keeping with the thread...he is arguably the anti-Trump.  Highly intellectual.  Financially generous.  Avid reader.  Confident.  Empathic.   Don't you think maybe we're a bit jaded when we question the motives of someone who spends a vast fortune helping those most in need?

There is a documentary out on him somewhere...Netflix?  It's 3 hours, which may have been a bit long, but it's interesting to see his focus and to appreciate that there are just some people who are smarter than the rest of us.  He's one of them.

I don't know Bill Gates but I know his work thru the Gates Foundation. Back when he ran Microsoft it was fashionable to hate him as an oligarch in charge of an evil empire. After al, he was rich and white—and hating rich white people never goes out of fashion.

Now that he's spending that money on improving human health and education in the poorest parts of the world he's still a target. The conspiracy theorist can treat any piece of contrary information as evidence of the plot; of course he maintains his innocence, that's just what a guilty person would do!

It must take one exceedingly clever to know what makes Bill Gates secretly happy—a secret even from himself. Perhaps that cleverness could be applied to something more productive, like, oh, I don't know...improving health and education in the poorest parts of the world?
