A Question of Silence — Marleen Gorris (1982)

A Dutch feminist drama about three random women who ganged up and stomped a man to death because they were fed up with society’s sexism. A bit uneven but unforgettable.

Margot Kidder's first movie. Really good, not only for the tutorial of her body.

We really enjoyed 'Rocketman'. As a huge EJ fan I expected to hate it, but loved it. Worth it for the costumes alone! Taron Egerton sang every song too, no lip-syncing. As ExPro, Sir Elton could have whitewashed some of the more unseemly aspects of his life, but he did not. At all.
Highly recommended, even if you're not a big fan. Maybe especially if you're not a big fan.

Stranger Than Fiction with Will Ferrell.  I actively dislike Ferell, so I was really surprised to find myself enjoying the movie *and* his role in it.  Worth watching.

We went to an "arthouse" showing of it because it wasn't going to come anywhere near us, and it was cool. They've taken over a vintage 30s theater in Billings Montana and we sat in the balcony... but before the show, they ran a "Welcome to ..." clip from the president of the board, and he dumped a bunch of spoilers! WTF! "We're so happy to bring you Jojo Rabbit, a movie about .... SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

I knew all of this, but really, who wants to hear someone talk about the movie they're ABOUT to see? Great way to get people to just stay home next time.

The trailer was very funny. I'm gonna track the film down when it hits streaming...

Since it's a Clint Eastwood, I'm assuming it has some sort of "Libs are evil" story line, but I'm interested in Jewell anyway. I remember the overall gist of the story but was there some alt-right narrative that came out of it? I did a quick google but of course now it's too late; all the first results look like movie references.

I think the spin is about the evils of the MSM.

Ah, right. I'll wait for it to come to Netflix and/or to see if somehow FOX wasn't complicit.

The poster weirded me out so much I didn't see it until the EDITED FOR TELEVISION version came on the networks years later.

Black Panther. We get a lot of superhero movies these days, another blockbuster every month, it seems. This one has a bad guy who the script writers had to remind us is evil because ... it wasn't so cut and dried. I won't mind seeing this one a few (dozen) times once the DVD comes out. Lots of more complex themes under it, and when I explained why they had the bad guy come from Oakland, California, the kids were all "oooooh!"

we were going to go see this this weekend and ended up at the Franklin Institute with the terracotta warriors.
