Well it seems that everyone we've known
Their love's grown cold, hearts turn to stone
One by one they break, it's such a shame
And now you say you wanna do the same

Don't toss us away so thoughtlessly
It just ain't right, oh can't you see?
I still love you
I want you to stay
Darlin' please, don't toss us away

Well, just think of all that we've been through
The world we were building, me and you
How could all those years be tossed away
In just one moment, in just one day?

Don't toss us away, it just ain't right
To let love die without a fight
I still love you
I want you to stay
Darlin' please, don't toss us away

So now I'm askin' once again
To understand, to be my friend
Oh, it hurts so bad to think you'd go
But still the same, I love you so

Don't toss us away, there's no reason why
Just because we're not perfect
Oh, you know, we still try
I still love you
I want you to stay
Darlin' please, don't toss us away

Oh darlin' please
Don't toss us away

Thanks for finally playing this!  I watched Maria mature over the years…. Saw her at many small venues in the 80’s and she was energetic - line Springsteen-energy.
I can listen to Maria sing all day long. What a voice.

This must be a self reference.
If you can't sing, then please don't sing
i love her voice.
Don't understand all the dislike for this song. Even if it might not be 'great' , certainly not worthy of all the "1" votes.
First time hearing this, or of them

Really like their, and her, sound...

Too country for my European ears, sorry.

That's the problem with continent-specific ears. My condolences.

I guess the Beatles should never have covered Buck Owens (They're Gonna Put Me in the Movies) or Carl Perkins or any number of other southern American roots artists because we all know rock sprung fully formed from whole cloth in England.
Sort of foreshadows Cowboy Junkies and Nekko Case, maybe a little Mazzi Star. Eh, for all I know the latter three all predate LJ. I just don't feel like diving into Wiki at the moment.

Thank you!

I'd like to hear more of their music
Lone Justice and Maria were the next big thing for a while.  Produced by Steven Van Zandt.  Rather good while they lasted.

wow! Haven't thought about this band in years. Enjoy their music
2 -> 1.  Quite like the piano, though far too much reverb, but the caterwauling?
For about 15 minutes in 1985, this band was the Next Big Thing.
Brilliant band, brilliant voice and brilliant song.  LOVE!!!
Maria doesn’t quite have the pipes to make this the CW weeper they Loretta or Emmylou could, but a hell of a try.
I saw them back in their heyday and I'll tell you this, Ms. McKee was a kick on stage. Loads of energy running amok all over the place. Super entertaining.
This song came up yesterday on my thumb drive. I love the lonely, hollow piano. Just me and the piano player across the empty room, 2 AM.
Wow.  This is dreadful....
Far Away Eyes would be a good follow up.
It's like a parody.  "Don't toss us awaaaaaaaaaayayayayayayayayayayayayayayay".  Is it off-key mostly or is it my ears?

Truly.  I had the cassette back in the day. I completely forgot about this band until now.

And I'm not a country music fan at all but this band cuts through somehow.
So nice to hear a country tune! Brilliant. I would like to hear a few more in your mixes please Bill.
I dig it, and Maria's vocal.   And one understands quickly that "Don't Toss Us" is not a British tune
While this song is not one of their best, the whole album is a treasure! Please play more!
Outstanding and brings back memories of life in the Bay, KFAT, KLRB, clues that led me years later to find BG and RP, keeping the DJ art alive. Thank you. And for playing Rank and File, too!

Agreed. Hurts mine ears.
Wow, a song with a tri-modal distribution of votes

Style.
Warble it!
I'm good with this track...the sentiment expressed doesn't lend itself to great singing....which works for me...and the C&W'ness' of it is also cool...gave it an 8....thanks for dusting it off, BillG!  Long Live RP!!
I remember at maria mckee's sp? peak Rolling Stone wrote a review saying that she was too country for rock and roll and too rock and roll for country.... pretty much sums it up... I tried even uploading some of the solo stuff she did the long time ago... bill never cared for it lol
Good until her voice wavers and goes horribly flat...
My ears are cringing.  Sorry fans.  PSD for this one before my colleagues sort it for me.

result:  Stone Roses.  Thanks RP.
...working, and wondering where I have heard this voice....thanks Bill for helping me remember. I had this album, on vinyl, before vinyl was hip.
this is good ...

as in other places, in the RP Station also it has exclusions and reserves.... -    7 / 8.

it is a fact, Ms. Maria McKee a great singer in any part of the world; i think she has a new album (2008) published in United States of America, and she is originary of Los Angeles, California State.

I LOVE Maria McKee! "You Gotta Sin to Get Saved" is one of my favorite album. Good to hear some Lone Justice here.
The Singer is Maria McKee, normally I like her, but I think Bill found her worst Song. #-o I think I have to upload some better songs...
I love this song from Lone Justice's first album. A great choice. More Lone Justice, please!
Yuck. Hit mute on this one.
The singers voice kind of reminds me of Emmy Lou's, but for some reason, I can't stand this chicks voice.
Hoo boy, my ears hurt! No doubt this is fine stuff, but not to my tastes! The vocal stylings are just a tad...heavy handed? I'm trying to be polite here.
