Well, nickel is a nickel, I said, dime is a dime
I need a new gal, she won't mind
Tell me how long do I have to wait
Can I get you now, I said, must I hesitate?

The eagle on the dollar says, 'In God we trust'
You say you want a man
You wanna see that dollar first
Tell me how long do I have to wait
Can I get you now, I said, must I hesitate?

Well, if the river was whiskey, said, I was a duck
You know I'd swim to the bottom, Lord
And never come up
Tell me how long

Well, rocks in the ocean, said, fish in the sea
Knows you mean the world to me
Tell me how long do I have to wait
Can I get you now, Lord, must I hesitate?

Well, the hesitation stalker's got the hesitation shoes
You know, Lord, I got them hesitation blues
Tell me how long do I have to wait?
Can I get you now, Lord, must I hesitate?

Said, can I get you now
How long must I hesitate?

Doc Watson. Dr. John. Only thing miss'n is Professor Longhair.
Love Doc Watson.  I wish I had gotten to see him play before he passed away, he used to come through town pretty frequently.

Shades of Jerry Jeff Walker?

I would say that JJW is a shade of the Watsons. All good, just one is more recent than the others.
At least a 10.

Sounds like the song I used to sing when I was dating Patty back in high school.  See, I went to public school and she went to a Catholic school.

Didn't work out.

 Sure it did.

That Ryko CD, "Steal This Disc", was full of little gems like this one!
Now this is Old Timey...hell yes!

Doc's still touring. Saw him a couple of years ago in a 200 (plus or minus) seat Opera House in Newberry, SC. Wonderful evening. Voice still sounds strong and a marvelous sense of humor. If you get a chance to see him, not to be missed.
I saw the two of them together back in the early eighties at a small club here. Seating for perhaps 50 people. We were sitting at a table right in front of the stage. It was an amazing evening.
Don't hear a lot of songs that rhyme "log" and "dog" any more. Music sure has changed, hasn't it?
How I love those finger pickin good licks!
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Now pick it, son!
I highly recommend the "guitar album" for major picking thrills. make jorma look ham handed.
love this tune! Hopefully some Jorma will follow? :)

'Bout time you played this again! C.
Kind of cleaned the palate after Lucinda Williams.
Of course Doc Watson can do no wrong. It took me a while to recognize this song. I have heard it a thousand times from the first Hot Tuna album which really cooks. Both versions are 5 star tunes.
god, I loooove this!!!! (pimp)

Nice addition to the playlist . . . thanks
