He-he-heat in your skin
Pull up a chair and unwind
Dog we don't share
The taxi left us behind
Silhouette of a psychic reader in the market
And the straw wrapped around a bottle to take home
Barbeque chicken oil in a drum, double strong rum
Here comes the horn you call for
Woman in a box with her head in her box
Speaks french when spoken like a tourist french
Hey classic Coca-Cola in a can when you wanna cool down

Heat, she move up the street in waves
Sugar, sugar, clear your mind leave it all behind
Get in the boat and float
Join in on a high spot and ride, ride
Put on some smile
Stay for a while

Heat, she move up the street in waves
Sugar, sugar, clear your mind leave it all behind
Get in the boat and float
Join in on a high spot and ride, ride

I don't know about you but when I'm horny just about every song is about getting laid.
oh I love hearing this again…

I like it - now 7

First time I hear Underworld here I believe! ♥️
heard the percussion and thought of Pink's I'm Comin' Up
Far from their best, a catchy tune anyway. Love them.
One of the all time great pioneers and purveyors of electronic music.

This track is nowhere near any of their best work, in my opinion, but still funky - I'll take Underworld music anywhere I can hear it 👍

Long time, regular listener here, somehow never heard this band... yet another cool find I'll have to learn more about. Thanks Mr. Bill!
dig it
4am 3rd bottle of Chard lyrics; where's that guitar? Ramp up the Acoustica drum machine. We got a single!

Liked Underworld for a long long time.
Feeling a bit of a J.J. Cale vibe there.  Very nice.

Always a nice surprise to hear Underworld, especially on RP..... more please!
(I had a laugh at FRP's location: douchland....)

Haven't heard this in awhile, and I just upped it from an 8 to a 9. Nice!

Yep, a snare would do that for you nicely. Although if you had a shoe to hand, and some wet gravel, about half an inch in diameter, you could probably make the same effect. :-D

Whoa!  I am a HUGE fan of Underworld and I never knew!  I have always loved "Doot Doot" and even the early Underworld "Underneath the Radar".  Dubnobasswithmyheadman remains my all time favorite (esp Cowgirl).  I was so totally happy they got some play during the London Olympics opening ceremony.  Guess Danny Boyle is a fan too!  He had them on his Trainspotting soundtrack way back when.

NEXT 10!

I guess I wasn't in the mood for this last time I heard it, because I had it at a 5.  For some reason this morning it really caught me and now it's an 8.  Nice groove. :)

actually, any singer who does that electronic thing to their voice gets a great big fat fail
I actually like this, reminds me of Ian Brown.

Yeah! Love hearing Underworld on RP! Maybe something from Beaucoup Fish or one of the earlier albums next time? :)

I like the banjo and guitar, the synth is ok but the drum machine was a bad idea. Get a drummer, please, it would improve the tune greatly. Haha, you are honestly comparing that drum programming to Underworld's?  You must be new..

Wow... I just came here to add a comment about the icky vocal effect... and I see I already did it. Still feelin' the same way.

Does noboy get the subtle changes ere? The synth that comes in gradualy mixes so well with the tone of his singing.. makes the heart warm... And as for this being an Ad for Coca Cola... jnhashmi wrote:

But because this song sounds like it does, somehow it's ok. Not for me - I don't want to hear ads in my songs and this is an ad, same as any (insert hated teen singer of the moment here) song. Cool doesn't make it ok.
The method used by Karl Hyde when writing his lyrics, is not based on anything but the result of his random brain functions it seems, and it would be pretty much impossible for anyone to try and succesfuly work out why he sings some things.. his lyrics are often completely incoherent (as in much of this song) and the result of his everyday life (much like his photography) furthermore, he was at that time a brand spanking new recovering alcoholic and when you consider lyrics like "lager lager lager lager lager" (Born slippy) to "Oh classic Coca-cola in a can when you wanna go down" its plainly obvious this isnt an Ad..its his new life but really its impossible to know...its not an ad.. give underworld some credit!
Ohhhh noooooo!

Not one mention of Jose? He may very well be our generations Nick Drake (well, maybe not Nick Drake, but the closest we're gonna get today)

I guess some people get it, and some don't. To me, the whole song is trying to sound distant and disconnected, not unlike Beck. It's a style that I used to find difficult to listen to, but now I get it. Yeah...the drum loop is pretty obvious but it fits with the overall abstract mood. This is not something that is easily done in a studio. TAKE NOTE: That any song near or above 7.0 is a pretty good song according to the RP audience. At the time of this writing, this one is sitting at 6.9--So there!
love this--something about the insistent beat that makes me groove.

Many thanks to RP for helping me "find" Underworld. A very enjoyable album. Excellent tune.
Normally I'd be upset at an Underworld song off of "A Hundred Days Off", but this is one of the few exceptions. Cool stuff. Very trim, indeed. Massive Attack and Underworld, back to back? This takes me back to the mix tapes I used to make in 1996!
Why do I *always* think this is the Moody Blues whenever I hear it? (That's not a bad thing, BTW, I like this song.)
love the vocals, like a blanket of fog over over the coastal waters, yum.
thank you soooo much for playing underworld.

Well, what I see in it, or hear in it, is a great beat, subtle phrasing, a great little repetitive guitar riff, cool lyrics and wonderful synth percussion. I like the distortion in the voice. I gave it a 10. I always feel good when I hear it.

same thing would prolly happen if i re-watched Xanadu. hehe.
One of the local theaters had a showing of Xanadu a month or two ago.. I got together a bunch of folks (12, I think?) to go see it en masse. We rocked. We rolled. It's truly an over-the-top, amazing thing. It turns out I really love two of the songs, too..."Dancin' Round and Round" and "Whenever You're Away From Me." I actually got home around midnight that night and immediately ordered the CD from Amazon. Am I banned from RP now?
Haven't heard this in a while.... man, still lovin' it - love the groove!
This song grows on ya. :)
This song cracks me up!
These guys are the best. Nobody could strut like Freddy
...Dot? Are you still out there? I miss your witty banter!
This seems comparable to JJ Cale from half a lifetime ago, but not quite as creative.

i bought the cassette tape of 'radar' in '88.... i really dug it, course i was 16. so i thought that i would pick up the CD last year to rekindle all those great feelings i had about it back then. didn't happen. same thing would prolly happen if i re-watched Xanadu. hehe.

Hm, I like it! Given the other comments, I'll buy the CD. I recommend Second Toughest for the Infants, which I like from beginning to end. The first track has four movements linked by great transitions, and if you dig up the live version, it's different and no less great. Good catch by johkir on Underworld's first album; I vaguely recall it as a clone of INXS.
The back beat draws you in and takes two-stepping to the next level
Underworld=Genius!
the undercurrent bass sounds like George Michael's Hand to Mouth. I think that's the name of the song. Definitely George, though. Sad to think I know this sooooo well.
Not sure I get the high rating. Sounds like an entry at a high-school talent show to me. The drum-machine beat might make for some good dancing but my computer can kick that out. Maybe that's why I don't like it - some music only translates well if your dancing to it and don't have to pay close attention to it's substance (or lack there-of)
