Always a lovely surprise when this comes on, thank you RP!

During the corona what -is-your-10-such-and-such-list-craze the 1983 Doe Maar album '4US' (which sounds like virus in Dutch... ;) ) was very well received by some English friends of mine who'd never heard of the band but instantly loved their ska-reggae-punk-nederpop sound - both Skunk and 4US are worth checking out if you like this particular tune
Good guitar work
Oh my, Doe Maar on RP! I am stunned and delighted. Hello Dutch adolescence, it's been a while.
yeah….No. Not my kind of groove.
But for those of you which it is: have at it! ☮️
RIP Henny Vrienten

Errr... you mean The Police, yes? Because if the police sound like this where you live... do you by any chance live in a Ghosttown?
Doe Maar on RP.....the band of my youth. Way to go!
btw. staat niet in de Top 2000  😱

Gezellig en toch leuk!

(En nu noch wat van Bløf)
RIP Henny
Lol, I was thinking "WTF this is Doe Maar? Thought I were listening to Radio Paradise".

Nice one!
yihaaa Doe maar op RP !!!

Slightly off the topic of this tune.......

Does all high THC cannabis smell like skunk?  And why?

What a surprise, Doe Maar, on Radio Paradise!!
Never heart this instrumental version, I can imagine that because the Dutch spoken songs should sound strange.
A band with history, glory days in the mid 80's but still active. I know the guys.
Anyone else hear The Clash?

Please try other stuff of Doe Maar on RP... A lot of Dutch listeners will appreciate it!
What a surprise! How does RP knows about this album?
Holy Cow! Grew up in Holland in the 70's haven't heard this since1
The 'oe' in Doe Maar is pronounced like the 'Oo' in 'Oof'. But A for effort Bill! ;)
For all native English speakers: it's pronounced "Do Mar"

Close enough for Flag Oscar I'd say. If this album went overboard, I'd forego the Williamson turn and keep my course.
Doe Maar on RP?  Wow

Greetings from the Netherlands.
And Bill, the band's name is pronounced doo-mahr, not doh-way-mahr.
Insofar as Dutch ska punk (aka skunk) approximates surf (punk) rock, it also rules!
Sounds a little like the police.

Hey, come on, 6 or 7 other people bought it too, you know?!
I actually quite liked the album, but it was a far cry from Sweet Baby James, which I think was kind of the point.

Good memories from a great Dutch band that ended their career much too early. When I was 12, for me Henny Vrienten (bass/vocals) was the summit of cool.

Too bad all the lyrics are in Dutch, I guess Bill would play more of their songs otherwise. Solid 9.

8 most excellent Dutch Ska tune!

Good stereo separation, sounds great with headphones.

Sure is! I'm seeing 'Doe Maar' in concert later this year. Will be great fun.
Go Ahead then!

Their symphonic album from 2012 is entertaining.
I like it more and more : 6 => 7 => 8

I remember when I lived in the Netherlands in the year 80's, I didn't know much about "Doe Maar", until I heard a lot about them when the band broke up.
"Doe maar...."
"Doe maar?  ... Doe maar is uit elkaar"

Dutch people will probably get it ;)
One of the best dutch bands, luckily this instrumental musical gem, hopefully pleases the international RP listeners.
Nice to hear my favorite dutch band of all times on my favorite radio station!
Thanks a lot!

love it, and what a choice. This is why I love RP.

There were more similaritys: Both bands had a blond bassplayer-singer as a frontman, they both started with modern ska  and gradually became more sophisticate and they both pulled the plug because the succes made normal live impossible.
Pleasantly surprised to hear Doe Maar on Radio Paradise - great band, great song with very good bassline.

Dutch living in Sweden (which is irrelevant really)

Really cool!  I've never heard of this band but it looks like a lot of people think highly of them.  Gonna have to check it out!
What a nice surprise to hear Doe Maar on RP.
Thanks so much

So funny to hear a Dutch band overhere...and a good one too. Bit old but still okay {#Cool}
GREAT!
Especially nice to hear something so far from mainstream from your own country
Both things up for playing Doe Maar!
Really nice you place this number from Doe Maar

A dutch listener  who lives in France.
Why the "Skunk" title under the no-cover cover? A bit surrealist, belli donni (Bill and Rebecca)

Editing  : Oh...I understand. Clicking on the title instead of clicking on the Album's name. Doing this just leads to Amazon page, doing that explains it all.
Well, I'll have to give it a second chance. Not convinced by the first listening
Doe Maar!!!! Early stuff OK, I was more into Het Goede Doel though (loosely translated as Charity).

Oh I love RP!

Yes!!!
My favorite Dutch band of all times! Big surprise to hear this on RP!
They have made other cool stuff also!
Here the album cover, since it is missing on RP.
By the way; Skunk is Dutch weed (pot, hasj, cannabis).

I'm going to see them playing in Fall this year, although I never was a fan in the '80s. Now I like them for the sake of old times ;-)

Just to late to hear Doe Maar.
Famous Dutch group in the 80th.
Really surprising.

Wow, I can´t believe you have this on your playlist. That´s quiet obscure. Great song. Thanks fort playing this!

Woehoe! My childhood heroes.

Thanks!

Must be a instrumental though, because dutch lyrics sounds ridiculously strange for the English-based listeners of course.

Nice touch, Bill. And many regards from Holland! We do love RP over here.

Love this tune since the first time I heard it here.
Thank you, Bill!

"doe maar" is a typical Dutch expression for which there is no real good English translation. "doe" means "do" and "maar" can mean "whatever". If somebody suggests they will do something and you don't really mind you would say "doe maar" as a motivation without getting personally involved. It's a great name a for a ska band from the early punk era.

Sounded like Andy Summers....
Brilliant Bill!
Greetings from NL

Bill if you read this you may want to listen to the song "de bom"!

Indeed they were so popular that they couldn't walk the streets here!

Thanks for playing!{#Clap}

I may be in the minority, but that doesn't seem to be a problem to me.  Granted, I might miss some portion of the nuance, but as long as the musicianship is at least as important as the lyrical content... Heck, there's lots of music that's ostensibly in English that I don't understand the lyrics and yet love ;)

Interesting comment. As far as I know Bella Donna is instrumental. And the language of music, everyone speaks.

jk

Absolutely fabulous!! Doe Maar played on RP!! A dutch eighties band, long gone. In the eighties they were as popular as The Beatles in Holland. Greetz from Haarlem, the Netherlands.
This sounds pretty awesome on my new speakers!!! Thanx RP!!!
Nice ska + dub sound.
Great!!! Have an ear for this dubby bassline and the groovy beat...

Nice for the 15 registrated listeners in the Netherlands. Thanks Bill!
Cool, Doe Maar on RP! Shame I missed it though. I have all of their CD's but the problem is all of the other songs have Dutch lyrics so unfortunatly not very suitable for RP. Love this song though, solid 10.
Well, what a surpise this is. Hallo mede muziekfreaks in ons kleine kikkerlandje! This band was enormous in Holland in the 80's

Groovy man...there an ocean in Vermont? Need to surf!
this is peppy and cool, classic yet fresh, and uses dub/echo horns tastefully ... what more could you want?
