Hello, I've waited here for you
Everlong
Tonight, I throw myself into
And out of the red, out of her head she sang

Come down and waste away with me
Down with me
Slow how you wanted it to be
I'm over my head, out of her head she sang

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang

Breathe out so I can breathe you in
Hold you in
And now I know you've always been
Out of your head, out of my head I sang

And I wonder
When I sing along with you
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You got to promise not to stop when I say when
She sang

And I wonder
If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again
The only thing I'll ever ask of you
You got to promise not to stop when I say when

If everything could ever feel this real forever
If anything could ever be this good again....

It felt like being punched in the gut when I heard about Taylor.
Although Dave plays drums on the studio version, it was Taylor's last ever song he played live. It does hit hard that "if anything could ever be this good again"  RIP Taylor Hawkins, certainly the best drummer I've ever seen live.
Rest in peace Taylor Hawkins. You are dearly missed.
It's a couple weeks after Taylor's death and this song just hits different now...and not in a good way.

totally agreed, TLBritton.  They loved each other like brothers and respected each other even more.  such a tragedy to lose Taylor at such a young age.  Godspeed.

The second thing is, watch out: AI, is one of the most misleading technologies ever invented. Even if there were good data supplied to reputable AI technology, the conclusion you cite is most likely meaningless chatter disseminated with the intention of misleading. I'm a huge fan of Dave Grohl. Highly recommend his book "The Storyteller". He's a great writer.

must have been feeling a little cranky when i gave this a six.  the drumming alone adds a point.
Great tune!, in spite of the fact that it was severely overplayed on the radio!

Hey Montreal,

You better watch it.  It's not politically correct to criticize this band.

You are 100% correct (see my previous posts).

This band is immensely boring.  They follow same PAAD formula (every song must contain one or more of Pain, Angst, Anger, or Despair). You can predict when it comes in each and every song.

But there is such a HUGE lack of RnR talent, that these guys stuck around and now are anointed  as a great band.

I had a vaccine. It was not without side effects but nothing to keep me off my feet. Of course, I wasn't asked to put on a 1:45 minute set twice a week.

Some of us were just still mad that Kurt was gone. Took me a long time to get on board, despite how damn catchy the songs were.

Clearly, Foo Fighters has put out tons of top notch music. It's a lot more pop than Nirvana wanted to be, and maybe that's part of the angst too?
Foo Fighters music proves that Kurt was the true RnR outsider in Nirvana.
You can really hear the Sunny Day Real Estate chops in the compositions on this album!
No wonder Kurt killed himself... Well, that and Courtney Love...

The house lights dim then a red floodlight shines on a giant FF logo backdrop behind which Everlong starts quietly in Dave Grohl style, the tension builds, his singing voice gets harsher and the tempo increases, I break out in a cold sweat, then suddenly full white arc lights light the whole place like daylight and the young ones in the mosh pit get supercharged into a seething frenzied mass.

It never ended up as a full scale riot and everything settled down eventually but just for that one moment I thought "what have I done?".

You had to be there and be part of it I suppose.

Happy memories.

As the father of two sons, now in their late 30's, I get it.  there's a fine line between incredible adventure and irresponsibility.  Glad yours survived, and I'd bet my house they remember that "adventure" for the rest of their lives ... as clearly as you will!

Saw them here in Dallas last year. It was one of the the most entertaining, high energy, exiciting shows I've ever been to.    Taylor Hawkins, man or machine is what we were asking as we left.

When a band and a song really come together perfectly, you can tell it right away.  FFs are a decent band, but this is an example where they really nailed it with great songwriting (music and lyrics) and great performance. First rate track, even if you think this band is overrated.
I forget. On this song are singing about Pain? Or is it Angst? Or is it Anger?  Or is it Despair? It's called the PAAD formula and they've been milking it for 20+ years.

It's also puzzling how often he uses the word "hook" in relation to music and apparently doesn't have any idea what the term means. Whether or not one likes this song, it's got more hooks than a tackle box.  It doesn't seem he's aware of the definition of "truncated" either, even though he frequently uses that word as well.

Indeed. I remember a nice drive through the french alps, going very steep uphill and racing against a fast Mercedes. {#Laughing} One of my best driving experiences and this song was on the MP3 player. I lost the race, but it was fun. My wife was nauseous for hours afterwards, but she didn't complain.

They tore old RFK stadium apart on the 4th of July and did to that house the same level of justice that the very first Rock band that played there did nearly 50 years ago.

Not necessarily a Foo Fighters fan, but RFK was a great show.  I'm a bit more of a fan after that.  Great song for driving with the radio at 11.

Chatted briefly with Dave, nice guy and certainly one of the hardest working guys in the music business.
EVERY time I think (hope) the opening chords are Sonic Youth...but alas No.  They took those chords just about verbatim from SY!

To each his own but it sounds fantastic to me and brings back some bittersweet memories. Love this song.
I remember borrowing this album from the library when it came out. It costed me about 2 euro but it was cheaper than buying. Mind you I was 15 back then.
There was a big mister motorgang with tattoos and stuff working at the place at that moment. He stoot out against all the other employees looking like grandmothers and other boring characters. I suspected him to have a social service job after sitting out some jail time. I was a little afraid for him.
He followed me to the exit of the library and I was getting nervous. What does he want from me? I tried to ignore him and just casually look forwards, until his hand touched my shoulder. I turned around and he said: "You have a good taste sir" and we both smiled.
