But the Blasters' version is NOT the original:
Rudolph "Rudy" Toombs (1914 – November 28, 1962), was an American songwriter who wrote "Teardrops from My Eyes", Ruth Brown's first number one R&B successful song. He wrote more successes for Brown, including "5-10-15 Hours", as well as "One Mint Julep" for the Clovers.
He also wrote:
 "I'm Shakin'", a hit for Little Willie John, covered by the Blasters in 1981, Long John Baldry in 1996, Jack White in 2012, and Willy Moon in 2013

Rudy Toombs penned this back in the 50's.  I've always loved this song and hoped he was my kin.  Blasters do a great job with it, though.

with I'm Shakin' came out in 1981, the year I graduated from college.  I picked it up back when it was released, as I pretty much jumped on anything on the Slash record label back in the early 80's.

It came out in '82. I got this album a few years after that... Someone commented here that "I'm Shakin' " never really takes off; the best song on the album—"I Love You So"—definitely does.

Little Willie John was the original lyrisist, as far as I researched.
Billy Price and the Keystone Rhythm Band did a great version at their live shows in and around the Pittsburgh area in the 80's and 90's.
Billy still does this at shows nowadays with a new band, when he's not teaching at PITT.

Excellent show by the way. They rocked the house. Definitely worth seeing if you have a chance. This is a great 2-CD set. Also well worth the price.

I saw them separately, but never on the same bill. I loved The Blasters, and I am still a fan of X.

BTW, Dave Alvin plays in a band with Exene, D.J. Bonebreak, John Doe, and Jonny Ray Bartel called "The Knitters". I saw them at HSB in '07, and they seriously rocked!

But for the record (ha!) that isn't their first LP. It's the first one that anyone owns, except for a lucky thousand or so. There was a time when the "first" Blasters album would have been worth a few hundred dollars. Now all those cuts are on reissue CDs so I suppose the market's way down for the vintage vinyl...
