When you touch my hand and you talk sweet talk
I got a knocking in my knees and a wobble in my walk
Yeah, and I'm tremblin' and I'm shakin'

When you take me in your arms and talk romance
My heart starts doing the St. Vitus' dance
And I'm pantin' and I'm shakin'

Early in the morning time, late in the middle of the night
Whenever this chill comes over me
I wanna hug you with all of my might
And, and I'm sweatin' and I'm shakin'

Chill and fever, I've been told
Makes your head spin around and your feet run cold
I got fever and I'm shakin'

Feel like I been run through the mill
I can't move around and I can't stand still
I'm so jittery and I'm shakin'

Samson was a mighty good man, strongest in his day
And then along came Delilah and clipped his wig
And it looks like you took me the same old way
So, I'm nervous and I'm shakin'

Storm rocks a ship on a sea, the wind shakes the leaves on a tree
I'm like a nervous wreck, I'm all shook up
And that's what you are doing to me
'Cause, 'cause I'm jumpin' and I'm shakin' and I'm jumpin' and I'm shakin'

Shakin', shakin', shakin', shakin', shakin', oh yeah, I'm shakin'
Shakin', shakin', oh yeah, I'm shakin'

Bass, sax, and drums are in lock step on this one. Amazing.

EXACTLY!!!!!!!!
Oh wow, here I thought Jack White wrote this. He does a great job with this song. It's great to hear the original.

I saw these guys in the early eighties.  They were good.  :)

And, have been wondering. Are you kin of George Washington Hayduke III?

Back in my own Radio Days I played this. KEGR Cable Radio, Concord, CA.
Fun times!
I'll be seeing Dave Alvin live next month - can't wait, always a great show!
I will never forget rocking to the blasters at Solano Beach's Belly Up in the mid '80s, sweat poring off as I danced my ass off!

A bass line with saxes. Oh Bill

But the Blasters' version is NOT the original:
Rudolph "Rudy" Toombs (1914 – November 28, 1962), was an American songwriter who wrote "Teardrops from My Eyes", Ruth Brown's first number one R&B successful song. He wrote more successes for Brown, including "5-10-15 Hours", as well as "One Mint Julep" for the Clovers.
He also wrote:
"I'm Shakin'", a hit for Little Willie John, covered by the Blasters in 1981, Long John Baldry in 1996, Jack White in 2012, and Willy Moon in 2013

Sad to read the story about  Rudy Toombs, the original songwriter:
"He died during 1962, murdered by robbers in the hallway of his apartment house in Harlem."

Why son, that's a Little Wiilie John song.

Written by Rudy Toombs.

Great song with silly lyrics. Proves you can have the most abstract perfect words and it means nothing if it don't got that rock and roll!
The real Master Blasters, Steveland!
Brimming with rhythm, power, danger, near-anarchy, androgen... my knees are weak.

I love when Jack White covers…anything really. But in this case, the original is just perfect!

this would be  ROCK & ROLL, ya think?{#Beat}

I'm a huge fan of the Blasters, so I'm partial, but yeah Jack's version is great. Neither one is the original, tho, see video posted somewhere below...

Jack's version is starting to get played here in Chi. on 'XRT.  It's GOOD!
Rudy Toombs penned this back in the 50's.  I've always loved this song and hoped he was my kin.  Blasters do a great job with it, though.

I love albums like that. Most Wilco records take me a year or more before I realize how much they mean to me.

Someone Had Blundered. (Apologies to Tennyson). Maybe the person who uploaded it to RP couldn't find the info at the time.

It came out in '82. I got this album a few years after that... Someone commented here that "I'm Shakin' " never really takes off; the best song on the album—"I Love You So"—definitely does.

This album

with I'm Shakin' came out in 1981, the year I graduated from college.  I picked it up back when it was released, as I pretty much jumped on anything on the Slash record label back in the early 80's.

Never heard this version! Really cool!
Spirited cover of a classic burner! I love to hear the kiddies talk about "swagger" these days, as if they just invented cool.
Oooooo - Blasters!  My world is complete now. Thanks, RP! After hearing David Alvin's version of "Highway 61," I was jonesing for some Blasters, and here they are.  Yum, times ten.

Some Jason and the Scorchers would fit nicely here, too....
That is great. Thanks for digging this up. Little Willie is in the Rock n Roll HOF.

Little Willie John was the original lyrisist, as far as I researched.
Billy Price and the Keystone Rhythm Band did a great version at their live shows in and around the Pittsburgh area in the 80's and 90's.
Billy still does this at shows nowadays with a new band, when he's not teaching at PITT.

It's just too bad Phil and Dave don't play together anymore, but Phil is the voice and is still with them. So that's the better option.

Excellent show by the way. They rocked the house. Definitely worth seeing if you have a chance. This is a great 2-CD set. Also well worth the price.

I saw them separately, but never on the same bill. I loved The Blasters, and I am still a fan of X.

BTW, Dave Alvin plays in a band with Exene, D.J. Bonebreak, John Doe, and Jonny Ray Bartel called "The Knitters". I saw them at HSB in '07, and they seriously rocked!

But for the record (ha!) that isn't their first LP. It's the first one that anyone owns, except for a lucky thousand or so. There was a time when the "first" Blasters album would have been worth a few hundred dollars. Now all those cuts are on reissue CDs so I suppose the market's way down for the vintage vinyl...

Nice transition, Bill.{#Whisper}

Bill Goldsmith....you... The Blasters - I'm Shakin' 5:04 pm - James Horner - Sing, Sing, Sing 5:00 pm - Dandy Warhols - Plan A 4:55 pm - Ben Harper - Faded 4:51 pm - Dire Straits - Single Handed Sailor sweeeet set!!!! Who woulda thunk it? Thanks!
When I'm asked which band I believe to be the most underrated, the Blasters always comes quickly to mind.
I was hoping I would be the first person to have pictures of the Heat Miser running through his head when this song came on. I guess I got beat to the punch again!
8:41 pm - The Blasters - I'm Shakin' 8:36 pm - James Horner - Sing, Sing, Sing From a 10 to a 2 ... that segue was the musical equivalent of being in a plane crash.
Very nice, its on the list.
This is BIG music. I'll have to nick this.
