Go on get Tarzan
Go on get Jane
Go on get Superman
Go on get Lois Lane
Hamburger Mary
She's got a gun
Nothing goes on all the time
And she thinks it's fun
Come on run run run run away
Come on run away come on
Run run run run away
Come on run away
Doorbell plays Beethoven
I open the door
Yesterday's there
And I fall on the floor
Practicing makeup
She laughs at us all
Hey look at you
She's seen it all before
Come on run run run run away
Come on run away come on
Run run run run away
Come on run away come on
Run run run run away come on
Run away come on
Run run run run away
Come on run away
I'm having this party
So come now please
It's an open house girl
But no games with keys
No jokes in blank humor
No lines in blank verse
It couldn't get much worse
There's heroes and villains
Ma B and her boys
Doing the twist
Dancing with toys
I've been waiting all night
For someone like you
But you'll have to do
I've been waiting all night

Richard Butler, the male voice of the new wave 80's. Excellent lyrics. Saw the original band live at Merriweather Post Pavilion outside DC. With Echo and New Order.  WOW. And then in Atlanta back in 2006 with The Alarm. I was back stage and had a brief chat with him before going on stage. He was complaining about "The Bloody rainy weather".  It was a nasty cold rainy night. They were great.
Nice segue from that D chord finish from Son Volt to D chord intro from The Furs.

Well played
What a voice.

"no lines in blank verse. what could be worse" great line!

"I've been waiting all night for someone like you...but you'll have to do" great too!

Sorry I find this unmusical and pretty boring.

We and the Furs will forgive you.

I agree! ...not the best vocalist, but it really works for the Furs!

Shut up and go listen to your Mariah Carey records.
Just saw these guys the other night live on their current tour. The show was excellent and if you're a fan, you won't be disappointed. India was the show closer and was incredible. On the other hand, if you're a hater, then just give the song a 4 and move on {#Cheesygrin}

Twenty?  It's more than thirty years now.  Yikes.
One of the best pop songs ever written. Sounds better and better upon relistening.

Maybe you're right, but his voice is so incredible and i still amazed by this song. A must from the 80's

I had it pegged at 7, today it's definitely a 5—and lucky to hit that mark. Richard Butler doesn't exactly sing very much.

had to be there
Definitly either flotsam or jetsam.
Sorry I find this unmusical and pretty boring.
Bill is on a ROLL today! Smiths-CSN-Bowie now this classic! NICE! Only on RP.
Pop doesn't get any better, or more powerful, than this.
Of course, Todd Rundgren's production brilliance and the fact that it was recorded at historic Bearsville, up in Woodstock, doesn't hurt.

NOT the best representation of the PF's, for sure.

had the pleasure of seeing the Furs last weekend at RedHook in Woodinville, and man, do they still have it! tight.

Another "oldie" from RP that's as good as anything produced yesterday. Rockin' da house!

I still like "Heartbreak Beat" best, but this was pretty good, too. I'd never heard it before - probably never would have, were it not for RadioParadise.  Thanks, Bill and Rebecca - and thanks to whoever uploaded this song!

You're welcome! I uploaded this - still love those Furs.

Like better than "Pretty in Pink."
Talk about sounds of the 80's.  Can we fade into Dramarama from the cinema verte album and really satisfy my retro needs.

Really like these guys. Great tune...that I have never heard. THanks!
NOT the best representation of the PF's, for sure.

psycho furs, qu'est-ce que c'est?

And that goes for ME, here January 2, 2008! Bill knows how to play 'em, for sure!
"no lines in blank verse. what could be worse" great line!
What a great Furs tune. Thanks for digging a little to find one of the more perfect Furs songs. Dig it.
wow! it's been AGES since i've heard this.
RP you are totally making my day with the music selections of the last 30 minutes!
A nice treat! A tasty, seldom heard P-Furs tune.
Great to hear a Furs song that's not one of the usual suspects. There was a lot more to this band than "Pretty In Pink".
