The deluded seek that of the world around them
The tried know how to please and get nothing in return
The innocent move around ever so slightly to stay within score

The guilty know how to speak and listen with deaf ears
The happy know to set themselves free
The inspired see what they need to see

And we just watch them
We just watch them fall
And we just watch them
We just watch them fall

Google says it's Leona Gray. I almost agree with another comment about it sounding thin, but after listening for longer, I think I like it.
She has a bautiful voice!
Great Tune! Thanx RP!
This was the gateway song.

Now have 7 All Indian Radio albums.

It's almost as if they deliberately produced this recording to sound that way.
Gotta love that cover.
Wow, 26 albums released. I had no idea. That's prolific!
I bumped it up from 5 to 7.

First time I've heard this, and one wonders what you were playing it through to make that comment. Not a heavy voice, certainly, but a sweet tone, neither thin nor reedy.

Sure sounds off pitch to me at times. Glad for PSD...

Put that between your ears and roll it around for a while, that's all I ask!

Try Coke Studio on Youtube. There's an Indian and a Pakistani version. There might be an Afghan one too. Pakistan version is best - you get plenty of Indian musicians on it, you don't get many Pakistani musicians on the Indian side.

Poacher likes the cover art and gives the song a 10 based on that alone.  Hope that clears things up.

Wow, this just compeltely blindsided me.  THIS is why I listen to RP.  I would never have heard this otherwise.

Another one added to the purchase queue.

I love this song, had it as my ring-tone for a while (the beginning). The song has a lot to like: the singer can really sing, the string instruments are also well done, and I reject the idea that "detached" sounding vocals are bad thusly:

"It doesn't matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection
That makes you feel that I'll convey
Some inner truth of vast reflection"

- "Hook" by Blues Traveller

It sounds like she is singing from the netherworld. Way too detached.

That's a good term - I'll remember that. I always used to think of those periods as my cat's mad half-hour. I always wondered if she'd been scoring catnip off a neighbour when she went apeshit like that.
Nice.  Reminds me of Talk Talk, too.
InSaNeLy good segue from Porcupine Tree ~ sublime.
The cat comments have me chuckling.

Has a bit of a Grey Eye Glances / October Project / Mandalay meld to it.
Could be the love song for the last Underworld movie (not that I saw it). Just sounds like it would fit.

That's awesome. We call our cats Rocket Pigs when they do that - one of them looks a bit like a tiny, furry pig. Rocket Pig One got very excited just now while this song was playing, but it was just because he saw a possum in the yard.

I love "Birth Ritual," probably one of my top 20 Soundgarden songs. . .
