Guess who died,
last night
In grey stockings,
in all might
It was no loss
The only God of mine

He fell down,
just to drown
In a sea
of delight
To tame champagne
And creatures of the night

As the water,
took him over
Filled his lungs,
inside out
I sold his gold
For flowers and rice

Speaking fire,
he would hire
Pawns and peasants
just like me
To feed upon the conquered ones
But now we are free

I'm glad Bill seems to be in love with all of these Scandinavian female singers, because I am too!
Never heard of this wonderful lady before RP. Every time I hear her I have to go back to RP to check "what is that?" I guess it's a sign I should download an album or two. :)

restraining order? sorry that's me tonight - and her dangerous lyrics

Nice! Great voice!
For those who like this artist or song, she put out an album in 2020 entitled 'Myopia' which I have read good reviews of, for what that's worth.

This could be the soundtrack for Amelie, Part Deux: It Gets Weirder.

That's a compliment..

Yes and the piano part could have been composed by Erik Satie.

Great music this evening; hell all day. Lots of stuff I've never heard before. Thank you RP. The best streaming music source on the planet. Like the old timey FM radio of my dreams.

This is a lovely song - it made me stop what I was doing to see who it was.  I like the waltz time and the "Satie-like", extended, minor chords that are in there too.

+1 here. Stopped me dead in my tracks - beautiful and haunting.

Oh, don't get me wrong.  Creepy and beauty often go hand in hand.  Lisbeth Salander is hot whether on the page or as depicted in the movies.

Although it is worth pointing out that Lisbeth is fictional and Swedish and Agnes is both real and Danish.
I first heard Agnes here on RP; shows how little Danish radio I listen to nowadays. I registered the characteristic pronunciation ... hmm she sounds like a dane.... checked her out and bought the record.

This track in particular have a feeling about it.... Satie like.. but I also think about an old jazz cat (Miles Davies?) stated about Danish/Scandinavian jazz: it is like you are standing in the nature, playing a tone, sending it out in the void and waiting for it to return.

Funny, I beheld both as startlingly beautiful, I guess it really is in the eye... and ear.

The CD cover is a bit creepy, as is the song.  I wonder, Does this chick have a dragon tattoo?

If I had to guess I'd go with OCD and the occasional emotional meltdown. {#Eek}

Hey...maybe that emoticon is related to Agnes...

Beautiful!
That goes for the whole album!

I like how it makes me think of melodic antics of Syd Barrett and Tom Watson, and yet blends them with a surrealistically gorgeous voice!  and now, SPOON's freaking me out with The Delicate Place — Rockin' at RP on a snowy day, perfect for watching the snowflakes dance in occasional glad rays outside the windows here in my new place, thrumming to RP, high on all possible levels, dig it!

The Scandinavians do great murder mystery as well - Millenium Trilogy, The Killing, The Snowman etc...

True, true. Reading The Snowman right now. I checked this CD out from my local Library. It's pretty solid with about 3-4 really standout songs.
Sounds a lot like Azure Ray (who, I think, don't get played on RP...)

Agree. I think Scandinavians have a 'thing' about making good music that appeals to our tastes. Good for them, I say!

Yes, their Government has long supported the arts and helped their music get out to the world in general. We might all learn from this fine example.

I've always liked 3/4 time for pop songs, for some reason.  Because it's out of the ordinary?

It does add a certain something.  It guarantees a unique (or at least unusual) song structure.  It takes a musician of at least some talent to be able to play things in 3/4 time.

Wow, she's danish - my heart swells with pride...
Very nice!

Another excellent Scandinavian artist. I wonder if Bill and Becky have a 'thing' about Scandinavia? Anyway, big thanks to them for playing so many of them. Oh, RP, you are really spoiling us with all these Vikings :o)

Lovely voice, and the waltz background really suits the song. 8 from the Nottingham jury.

A nice little bit....

I like this song, this album, and the full image from which the album cover is derived.

I like this one, but 'Riverside' or 'Just so'  would be more obvious picks from her album.
On the other hand not-obvious is why I like RP so much.
Agnes is good, too !   How many are out there?    7 btw

a little bit like Laura Veirs-sound

This could really grow on me.... 7 for now.
