be there when I need a shoulder
when I need a heart
when I need to feel the beat
beat of my heart
let the road give me
.. to know it's the way
said I know it's the way
don't worry ..
don't worry too much
there'll be another day
you see some things still remaining
a lot of changing
don't dare stop changing

sometimes you shine
sometimes you fall
sometimes you know
sometimes you need
someone to hold
something that's real
never alone
until you can feel
the life in your soul

be there when I need a stranger
when I need the beating of my heart
beating of danger
take you the way you want to go
I don't want to show you
you can find your own way
find your own way
there's nothing written down
nothing here to tell you
nothing to tell you to turn around
I see you hating
don't want to see you hating

sometimes you shine
sometimes you fall
sometimes you know
nothing at all

want to see you shine, shine, shine like I know you can
want to see you shine, shine, shine like I know I am

sometimes you shine
sometimes you fall
sometimes you know
sometimes you need
someone to hold
something that's real
never alone
until we can feel
life in our soul

want to see you shine, shine, shine like I know you can
want to see you shine, shine, shine like I know I am

Comment away my friend!
Excellent piece of music, the whole album is a masterpiece. Would so like to hear a new one from Younger Brother…
I am a musician and with no more validity than anyone else, I think this is excellent.

love this one!

New hi-res master as of today. Check it out.

It's not that you can't post things about music if you don't play an instrument,
people that don't play an instrument have also an opinion about music.

I tend to want to give this a 9 for that wonderful eerie intro, but then back it off to a 7 for the rest of the song for not living up to the beginning.

Maybe your expectations were unrealistic. But I agree this is a solid 7.

Thank You for the best Music Mix the World has ever heard.
Did anyone notice that the controversial songs (with ratings all over the place) are lacking in the playlist during fund raising fortnight?   (I like it, I am not complaining. I only like some of them. They are mostly skip material.)

Proficiency in a musical instrument doesn't denote taste; nor lack thereof.
IMHO your voice (opinion) is as good as any, and possibly better than my own :)

The only two musical instruments I have demonstrated any real competency at playing are a kazoo and a stereo, but this station is labeled "listener supported" so I think that pretty much qualifies all those people who venture here, to comment.

Oh, and yes, I also like this song
So much better than the Dolly Parton cover!

I could be wrong, but I believe RDO was trying to mock the absurd "electronic music doesn't count because they don't play real instruments" trope.

The original album release was hardly electronic at all and was really poorly received by YB fans when it was released. I know fans have no right to 'expect' anything from their artists but a lot, including me, complained that it was a complete divergence from the previous 2 albums and was a rock-lite effort, essentially made by a different band, riding the coat tails of the YB back catalogue. If they had released it under a different band name as a side project then it would have been wholly appropriate.

It was made worse, for many, by the fact that they launched a big crowdfunding campaign to fund it, meaning that a lot of fans invested based on their previous experience of the band's electronic roots. I bought it expecting more yummy electronic madness and I was hugely disappointed with what I actually got. I've only played the original version a few times and it has never really grown on me.

To their eternal credit they listened to their fans and released an electronic version, which is far better, but I have to agree with you, this pales in comparison to almost anything else Simon Posford has been involved in.

This is a pretty damned good song, one way or another.

good solo dance tune at a wedding
Good lyrics.
Enness: I discovered YB here on RP... the first one I was turned onto was Train... I still love that song!  Pretty sure I googled to see if it was on the soundtrack for Snowpiercer... it wasn't but would of been a great fit!  Anyhow, Shine is another great song in my opinion.  Thanks Bill!

Thanks for that info. I discovered Posford here on RP with Vaccine (I think it was "Train" I heard first), which was just interesting enough for me to go expore further. I'm glad I did! It put me in the fortunate position of going from the lesser to the greater, rather than the other way round.
2 nights in a row Bill is killing it.
thank-you.
Vaccine is the antidote for the COVID19 angst and fear... Well played, Dr. Bill.

I can certainly see the point of doing a more commercially viable project with other musicians, but I find this effort from Simon Posford too tame. I doesn't ruin the song for me, but I get you.

That bit sticks in my ears like the violin screeches in the shower scene in Psycho.

But somehow it kinda fits the intensity of the rest of the song? *shrug*
Thank you again, Bill, for finding really great music and introducing it to us!

I have the same problem. I think it's that so much of this music, good or bad as it is, is ultimately so derivative as to be forgettable, IMO. I still listen to RP nearly every day, and enjoy it. But it's more like a project or study on the state of contemporary music. I'm still waiting to hear the group or groups that will open new pathways of music appreciation in my brain, the way my favorite bands used to do. So far not yet.
i bet their dancing in that hotel room that they're always dancing in. I'd be dancing too. damn fine song

Wherever they came from, they met in the middle - the whining and squeaking result is the same... Sorry, can't hide the fact that I can't stand Coldplay. This is a bit more bearable I think.

Wow. Stunning space imagery with stunning music.  Kinda like how iTunes visualizer makes you "see" the music through its algorithms and reminisce about that acid trip 20 years ago when you had the "a-ha" moment of yes, yes you can see music ;-)  I love Younger Brother but would never have known about this video without Bill's suggestion on the air.  Gratitude for posting/sharing/enlightening.

Liked the intro, not completely won over by the rest of the song.
I think I must have missed the transition from the intro...it felt like the end of one track and the start of another to me. I'll have to pay more attention next time.
