My love took a ride on a red-eye plane
Going home
And we're never going to feel the same
Change this feeling under my feet
Change the sheets and then change me

My love is a stockpile of broken wills
Like Santa Fe, margaritas and sleeping pills
I want to lie in the cracks of this lonely road
I can fill in the blanks every time you don't phone
Here is the truth, I swear it used to be fun
Go ahead run, run, run, run

Change this feeling under my feet
Change the sheets and then change me
Won't you change this feeling under my feet

I want to lie in the cracks of this lonely road
I can fill in the blanks every time you don't phone
Here is the truth, I swear it was fun
Go ahead run, run, run, run, run, run, run

Change this feeling under my feet
Would you change the sheets and then change me
Change this feeling under my feet
'Cause here is the truth, i swear it was fun
Go ahead run, run, run, run, run, run, ooh
Go ahead run, run, run, run, run, run, ooh

This is a really great tune.

Liking this more with additional listens.  How does the CD compare with the 3rd CD Asking for Flowers?

A decade later......

Now that I have had both for a few years, Asking for Flowers is IMO Kathleen's best effort to date.   Voyageur is still an excellent album.
Somehow I suspect if it were 30 years earlier, Sears would be using the part about changing the sheets in one of their home improvement commercials, like they did with Crosby Stills Nash & Young's "Our House".
An irritating racket.
The B side was "Mop the Floors".
Seeing Kathleen Edwards 8/29/22, for free. Looking forward to the show.
saw her live years ago and couldn't figure out why she wasn't more popular.  a good guitar player, singer and songwriter who put on a great show.
get her to tour with lucinda williams
Discovered her on CBC and as a fellow Canuck, I've loved her music ever since.
I'd lie in her sheets... the clean ones, of course!
I am so glad to see RP playing this song.  I totally love it !!!   I discovered Kathleen Edwards via CBC radio 2, and am so happy to see RP playing her music.  She is beautiful, talented, dare I say it ... Canadian, eh ?     I could replay this song for hours .. it just feels good  :-)

I get your meaning, but so much great music is just evocative and makes its point in its tone and ethos ... doesn't mean it still ain't crap, but still doesn't mean it is. But maybe I'm missing your meaning.  I get your point though.  I have a few I'd elect to that list ... some favorites of mine too ... still worthy of their scrutiny.

  Perhaps you should change your sheets.

This song keeps growing on subsequent listens.

She has a great band (actually studio musicians) and a solid producer.

Nice to hear again.  This is SO MUCH an 8 !!

Great Vibe!  {#Bananapiano}
Had tickets to see her in Regina last month but she had to postpone the concert until the Fall (had to take a break. She was exhausted from touring).  Rats!  Can hardly wait til Fall.
Oh My God.  Bon Iver's kidnapped Kathleen Edwards and buried her in the mix! {#Evil}
Must organize a rescue, before the air runs out!!!

Never knew of Kathleen Edwards until I heard her about a year ago on RP.  Over the past year I downloaded a couple of her songs from iTunes that RP played and really enjoyed them.  Then last night I got the opportunity to see her in concert at the Aladdin in Portland and WOW!  As a result of the concert I got up this morning and downloaded three of her CDs.

BTW, not only is she a great songwriter and singer, but she has a great band behind her.  Of course, it helps that they all seemed to be having fun playing last night.  Also, I really love the way many of her songs start as ballads and then explode into strong rocking songs before finishing as soft ballads again.

With three CDs worth of KE music, I should be listening her for the next month on my drive to work.

I was going to post the same thing!  I'd never stumbled across Edwards until she felt into regular rotation on RP.  I've happily purchased her back catalog and have been in gleeful love ever since.  Thanks Bill!

Her song is the reason I listen to RP... had never heard her before. Now I'm listening to everything she has recorded.  Thanks again, Bill.

Change yer shorts!

The lyrics drive me batty.

Wish she sang 'nother language,

then I'd love this song!
Edwards's voice makes me fall in love with her. Great backup band.
cool album cover
At one point in this song, the bass drum beat and keyboard sound exactly like AC/DC's "Shoot to Thrill."

Saw Kathleen Edwards live in Manchester (UK) on Sunday. What a fantastic show!
This CD's a little more upbeat (or commercial) than her earlier ones, but it's all great stuff. Buy all her stuff now!

Thanks RP for originally introducing me to her a few years ago.
Never heard this one before, after the last 3 songs it's definitely a ray of sunshine to get my morning started. {#Jump}
Best song on an excellent album.

Over produced?  I suspect Ms. Edwards is simply putting in all the effort this album warrants.  Don't forget to put your songs up on display so we can judge them too!

I never said 'over produced'...be more careful when reading someone's post before you try and slam them with a caustic tone. Take a pill and chill a bit...{#Confused}
Still an 8 !
So, we just saw Kathleen in Burlington, VT.( She puts on a fantastic show.) We were just talking about her because Bon Iver was playin. Aren't you clever Bill. :-)

I've been a fan of Kathleen's ever since seeing her on Austin City Limits a couple years ago.  As I recall, in that show she had a hot band and could absolutely sing the cover off the microphone.   Happy to see a new offering from her....will buy for sure!   Next stop is her website to see if she plays anywhere near my place.  If so.. it's a deffo GO !   (-:

I agree with you.  Kathleen is a national treasure.

Saw last week's performance in Hamilton, ON and may never be the same... Adore the new album!

Check this out, dude. The flower aren't always fake just because they're nicely arranged.

Nice... I like this Kathleen Edwards -
Am loving her new album. Classic Kathleen, IMO. Beautiful music, touching lyrics, emotional. One of my favorite artists. And wonderful live, if you ever get the chance :)
CD or download? Trying to decide which I should get.
Liking this more with additional listens.  How does the CD compare with the 3rd CD Asking for Flowers?
I am always surprised at how much I like her.
Heard this a few times, then saw her play on Letterman, and heard it a few more times...then got the record...and I think it's GREAT!  Good luck and all the best to her; she and the fine band behind her deserves it!
Just upped my rating to 9.  The more I here this song and Kathleen Edwards, the more I like her.

I think this is her best album ever. I wish this young lady a long and productive career. {#Cheers}

Nice change of pace for Ms. Edwards, for sure.  I too am looking forward to hearing the reast of the new CD.

Love the artwork on the CD cover as well.   I wonder if it will make the Great Lake Swimmers jealous  ;P
So different from her previous work. Makes me even more curious about the new album.

sort of sub-par for her.
It came out as a special 7"...or whatever the digital equivalent is.
That Bon Iver guy produced this and, yeah, it's pretty amazing.
